Portland duo Talkdemonic play often startlingly beautiful combinations of keyboards, percussion, hip-hop drum loops, and viola on their atmospheric, instrumental second album--there's the occasional hurdy gurdy drone, too. While the strings-and-drum kit setup invites obvious comparisons with the Australian trio the Dirty Three, Talkdemonic's sound is a truly unique blend of the old-world and the otherworldly.
