David Gilmore About Face
Had this album for a very long time, near the end still makes the hairs on my arm stand up, especially the end mix of background vocals, and guitar,

a real Classic album/cd of the 80's
Great album. Saw the concert in Cleveland for this album in June of '84. Excellent show. Mr. Gilmour-a great guitar player, one of the best of so many great guitar players.

Greatness
All well crafted tunes here! Murder is a favorite on this one. Myself..I really enjoy On An Island , more than one or two listens required I guess. One of the best player EVER this guy!

Floyd? Traffic? Deep? Is GILMOUR!
Floyd's soul is here, with another music concept, but the same guitar. Really, Dave is the most spectacular and fine 70's guitarist. Listen it very loud!!!

Glad this is finally available!
This release from David Gilmour was met with anticipation and it really delivered, receiving quite a bit of FM airplay for several tracks. Considering the release year of 1984, it could have been over produced and heavy on synths. Thankfully, it doesn't sound overly dated by the aforementioned problems.
The remastered sound is a vast improvement over the original cd release, especially in the bottom end and higher frequency, although the output level could have been slightly higher.
In my opinion this release and the first solo outing in 1978 are much better than the lackluster slow paced "On An Island" from 2006.
Highly recommended!
