| | Light Of The World Anthology: Addicted To Funk CD - Import Light Of The World Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
For 30 years now Light Of The World have led the way for British jazz/funk and soul. Now, in appropriately innovative fashion, they mark those decades with a 2CD anthology. Centrepiece on the album are two brand new tracks, Feel The Real, and Walk Don't Run, which is a collaboration with soul legend Alexander O'Neal. CD 1 features 12-inch, 7-inch and Remixes while CD 2 entitled features associated projects and rarities. EMI. 2006.Mojo (Publisher) (p.122) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "This short-lived but hugely influential London-based octet blazed a trail for homegrown funk in the late '70s and early '80s when they ignited UK dancefloors with breezy horn-led club anthems..." | | Deodato Love Island CD (1978)
Anthology: Addicted To Funk album
$9.69 1978's Love Island found Deodato in pretty much the same space he'd been for much of the decade, concocting his own ineffable brew of fusion and funky disco, with the help of friends and cover songs along the way. Love Island finds him unleashing yet another passel of songs which are all pleasant to the ear, if not completely fresh -- what makes it most interesting is that it could almost be considered a concept album, every song title apparently revolving around jungle tropics, warm winds, sandy beaches, and, more likely than not, a few beauties bearing cocktails to complete the picture. The album kicks off with "Area Code 808," which places the initial action ...
| | Twennynine With Lenny White CD (1980) Reissue
Anthology: Addicted To Funk CD music
$9.69 As drummer Lenny White left the influential jazz/rock act Return to Forever shortly before its decline, he started to successfully test the commercial R&B/pop genre. Twennynine was one of the better bands of the time and enjoyed an R&B hit, "Peanutbutter," from 1979's album Best of Friends. This is the follow-up. For this effort, Tanya Willoughby is added and Skip Anderson takes over the keyboard chores, replacing Don Blackman. Twennynine With Lenny White proves that those worrying about the jazz content here missed out on a lot of intelligent ...

| | Chick Willis Cookin' The Blues CD (2006)
Anthology: Addicted To Funk CD music
$16.45 BiographyforThe Stoop Down ManCHICK WILLIS It Is no exaggeration to state that the Blues is one of the most flexible of musical forms. While most people associate this music with despair , the down and out, and the overcoming of adversity, it is also a sanctuary for much humor about the human condition. While the majority of performers only hint at this and even fewer utilize it effectively, hilarity and good times permeate the music of Blues Recording Artist “Chick Willis”. He can, and often does lay down some serious Blues. But his good nature and concern for his audience almost demand that he keep it on the light side. Chick, who currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, was born in 1934 in Cabiness, Georgia. His dad was a railroad man and the Willis family moved to Atlanta when he was about 6 years of age. Although Chick has lived in a lot of Cities and towns throughout the country, to name a few, New York city, Brooklyn, NY, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Oakland, Orlando, Donalsonville, GA. Spartensburg, SC. Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Kansas City, St Louis, Columbus, MS. And a few more smaller towns in the pursuit of the Blues he seems to always come back to his Georgia ...
