| | Garth Brooks Ultimate Hits CDs (2007) With DVD
Cattle Call music CDs
$15.95 For a period in the early 1990s, Garth Brooks was not only the biggest star in country music, he was one of the biggest stars in music, period. An unassuming Oklahoman who fused the blue-collar ethic of new traditionalist country with an unapologetic pop side that drew on his love of 1970s rockers like Kiss and Billy Joel, Garth Brooks fundamentally changed the sound of mainstream country music in much the same way that Hank Williams had in the 1940s and Patsy Cline had in the 1950s. THE ULTIMATE HITS, a three-disc collection that is the first comprehensive career overview for Brooks, contains all of his most beloved songs in remastered sound, plus four brand-new songs and a bonus DVD containing all of Brooks's ...

| | Billy Currington Little Bit Of Everything CD (2008)
Cattle Call CD music
$10.89 True to its title, the third album by Nashville's Billy Currington throws some rock and R&B influences into his contemporary country music. A rocking blend of crunchy guitars, in-your-face drums, and more subtle traditional country instrumentation like fiddles and pedal steel characterizes the album's brash but not noisy or harsh sound. Highlights include the idyllic opener, "Swimmin' In Sunshine," a sure-thing evocation of a ...
| | Jon Langford All The Fame Of Lofty Deeds CD (2004)
Cattle Call music CDs
$10.89 Though he's best known as the leader of long-lived post-punks the Mekons, workaholic polymath Jon Langford has been involved in countless musical side-projects under a dizzying array of monikers, and maintained a busy career as a visual artist. Startlingly, ALL THE FAME OF LOFTY DEEDS is only the second album he's released under his own name, arriving six years after his solo debut, SKULL ORCHARD. As usual, he's backed by many of the usual cohorts from his intercontinental musical coterie, including members of the Bottle Rockets and the Waco Brothers. With many of the tracks essentially home recordings, there's a distinctly more off-the-cuff feel here than on SKULL ORCHARD, focusing more attention on the songs themselves. Certainly, compositions as memorable as "The Fame of Lofty Deeds" (reportedly about the life of Roy Rogers) and the music-industry-skewering "Nashville Radio" deserve all the attention they can get. Given this excellent set of songs, the through line ...

| | Goodroad Lonely Trip CD (2006)
Cattle Call songs
$6.69 Goodroad was formed in 2005 with the recording of their debut album Lonely Trip. The various members each come from vastly different musical backgrounds. Allen Goodroad has gained most of his experience on the coffeehouse stage doing solo acoustic performances. For the past 4 years he has led the youth band at St. Michaels Church doing contemporary worship in a full band setup. Allen also recently returned from a 30 show, 25 city tour as a professional actor with the Children's Theatre Company of Sioux Falls. Allen also performs weekly at the Catfish Bay Waterski Park where he has written the show for the past 5 years. Scott Rogers is from Green Bay, WI where he toured extensively up and down the coast of the Great Lakes. Scott moved to Sioux Falls and joined up with Goodroad at the beginning. Chris Hogan adds that low end growl to the Goodroad sound. Chris is a law enforcement officer from Sioux Falls who joined the band just before the recording of Detour. Eldon Fisher is an experienced guitar player whose main background is in the heavier side of music where he has earned numerous awards for his musicianship including 2 Metal Album of the Year awards from the Just Plain Folks association in Hollywood, California. Eldon was signed to Atlantic Records with the band Crash Alley and toured the United States for 15 years as a professional musician. Eldon appears locally with Goodroad, Jerkstore, the Jukebox Zeroes and was formerly a part of the Glory Holes and Wakefield. Steve Grimes is an experienced guitar player out of Sioux Falls who many might recognize from the Glory Holes and Sugardaddy. Steve received his education from the Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood, California. Last but not least, Brett McCarthy is a well traveled drummer who keeps the whole group in line. Brett grew up in Sioux Falls and has toured the region in various bands for years. You can now catch Brett's drum styling's with Goodroad and his other original project, Q. The ...
