BEST LIVE RATOS Incredible 55 min live set from 1992. Unlike the other live RDP album - GBGB, which is a raw soundboard DAT, this one was recorded with a proper pro 24 channels mobile studio and captures the sound and energy of that night superbly. New and current drummer Boka is a machine gun operator that will make your arms sore from air drumming. This record was released at the peak of their thrash metal era but has a lot of good old hardcore thrown in for good measure covering the whole of their career from 84 to 92. Songs are brutal, short, aggressive and in your face bursts of social anger and raw energy. This band is highly influenced by Slayer, Chaotic Dischord, English Dogs and the like but usually innovates over their influences and sometimes put them to shame. This used to be a highly sought after collectors item since it was long out of print up until recently so I;m glad it;s been rereleased. It took me 2 hours of extensive online searching till I found a copy at a small but friendly distro in Finland. Worth every penny. $17.59 Anyone familiar with the industrial-metal band's dark sense of irony should take one look at the title of Rammstein's 2009 album LIEBE IST FUR ALLE DA ("Love Is There For Everyone") and conclude that this one is a mean monster. Combining the tightness and punch of their 1998 album SEHNSUCHT with the musicianship and elaborate textures of their later work, LIEBE IST is a grand achievement, skillfully dividing its time between razor sharp metal rockers like "B********" or the opening theme song "Rammlied" and nostalgic, cabaret pieces that conjure the spirits of Weil and Brecht at a goth club. Best of the latter is the naked and haunting closer "Roter Sand" but little touches of a sinister yesteryear are everywhere, like the fake vaudeville music in "Haifisch" or the soundtrack strings of "Wiener Blut" which are eventually overcome by a guitar crunching juggernaut. This strange mix of styles is more effective here ...
$16.09 When SONIC BOOM was released, it had been over a decade since the last Kiss studio album, so expectations were understandably high. In addition, the intervening period had seen the band fire two of its founding members for the second time, only to replace them with sidemen wearing Ace Frehley and Peter Criss's iconic makeup. Luckily, the new additions, unlike some of Kiss's "un-masked years" members, ...
$5.75 In the tradition of bands such as Metallica and Judas Priest, Pantera put themselves on the map with supercharged blues-based metal riffs and screaming/singing vocals. Adding groove to their artistic aggression made COWBOYS FROM HELL a landmark for the band.
With the relentless "Primal Concrete Sledge," Pantera take a chance and incorporate ...
$13.35 Karuna is one of the strongest efforts in Nawang Khechog's discography. It is also the Sanskrit word for compassion, a concept at the very heart of all Tibetan culture. Kitaro produced the disc and graced it with two guest performances on the synth. The rest of the music is acoustic. Khechog performed it all on ancient ethnic instruments from Tibet, Africa, Australia, Japan, and Native America. The nature sounds are field recordings, not samples. That is a lot of background information, and this CD merits such. It is full of spiritual atmospheres that weave across ...
$9.59 Wishpool is a band based out of the Central NY area. The band itself was initially formed about four years ago but has undergone several changes since then. In spite of numerous band lineup changes and a myriad of disappointing setbacks, the latest incarnation of Wishpool stuck to their vision and worked hard on their own to create this new self-recorded debut full length CD entitled ‘Resurrected’. This powerful 12 song album ...
