(1 Customer Review)
In-Grid was named after the famous film star, Ingrid Bergman. She began singing locally in her native Northern Italy and soon got a reputation for her great stage presence and the energy and colour of her voice. Producers Larry Pignagnoli and Marco Soncini invited her to sing on a couple of ideas they were working on in the studio, and the massive "You Promised Me" was born - hitting #1 in Greece, Sweden, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Russia and Top 10 in Australia. The debut album "Rendez-Vous" was a smash in Germany, Europe, South Africa, Australia & the US. The release of her second album "Voila" is heralded by the irresistible single "Mama Mia". An album of Euro dance/pop with some classic pop hooks, this is sure to please old and new fans alike. Voila album
$10.59 Black Eyed Peas, the hip-hop crossover juggernaut that propelled singer Fergie and producer Will.I.Am to superstardom, have, since 2003's ELEPHUNK, been audaciously plugging away at their bombastic but lighthearted style of rap-cum-dance pop--an effort that has translated to a run of successful chart-topping singles including "My Humps," "Pump It," and "Don't Phunk with My Heart." Eager to follow up on the platinum-selling success of 2005's MONKEY BUSINESS, Black Eyed Peas have returned with THE E.N.D. (an acronym for "Energy Never Dies"), their third studio effort. Combining Will.I.Am's thumping 808 kick drum-infused beats with production assistance from a host of collaborators (including vocoder-loving Torontoians MSTRKRFT and French house veteran David Guetta), BEP's infectious party-time rhymes are an easy match for the album's Ed Banger-style of electro rapping and Auto Tune jamming, especially on lead-off single ...

Voila music CDs
$8.29 Australian electro-pop outfit Cut Copy are among the legions of indie acts defecting en masse to the low-end thump of house music. While the patchwork quality of their debut, BRIGHT LIKE NEON LOVE, sounds like a band searching for an identity, their follow-up, IN GHOST COLOURS, ...
| | Radian Chimeric CD (2009)
Voila songs
$12.78 Austrian synth-bass-drums trio Radian has been making austere, arty post-rock (remember when that was a thing?) music since the late '90s. But unlike Tortoise or other, related acts, Radian has never seemed particularly interested in human concepts of beauty. In a way, their stark instrumental tracks recall Autechre more than any ordinary band -- alienation is as much a goal as a consequence of their steadily pulsing, jagged music. This new album, their first in five years, begins with the quite noisy, ugly "Git Cut Noise," which combines their usual thick bass and clicking drums with almost Einstürzende Neubauten-esque rattles, roars, and grinding sounds. This piece is revisited on "Git Cut Derivat," where it's reduced to quiet hums and ticking noises, almost perversely subtracting the very elements that seemed to define it in its first version. In between is the ten-minute "Feedbackmikro/City Lights," slightly less noisy than "Git Cut Noise" but even more trance-inducing and relentlessly restrained. The album's second half is more organic: "Chimera" features delicately plucked guitars and washes of cymbals, closer to electro-acoustic improvisation than post-rock, while "Kinetakt" offers barbed-wire guitar notes and scratchy bursts of noise over tribal/trash-can drumming ...
| | Tangerine Dream Rubycon CD (1975)
Voila album
$9.89 RUBYCON is an undisputed classic in the vast Tangerine Dream canon, referenced by many of the new electronica generation. But at the time of its creation, Edgar Froese, Chris Franke, and Peter Baumann were themselves young men experimenting with technology.
RUBYCON is split into two sections, both of which offer the band's trademark mix of ululating sequencers, ghostly synthetic twilight, and mysterious electronic effects. Part One begins with intergalactic whispers, before coalescing into one of the Dream's most uniquely designed rhythm patterns. Part Two moves the sequencers' BPMs up a notch, matching them with whistling electronics and howling, deep space atmospheres. Truly astonishing stuff, and essential to anyone interested in the advancement of both electronic music and Krautrock in general.
Recorded at The Manor, Shipton On Cherwell, England in January 1975.
Composers: Christopher Franke; Edgar Froese; Peter Baumann.
Personnel: Edgar Froese (guitar, organ, Mellotron, keyboards, synthesizer, ...
| | Grandmaster Flash Essential Mix: Classic Edition CD (2002)
Voila CD music
$5.95 This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by DJ Grandmaster Flash.
This is not a collection of classic Grandmaster Flash 12-inch jams from back in the day (try the essential MESSAGE FROM BEAT STREET for that) but Grandmaster Flash's own live mix of 16 classic dance tracks from the 1970s and '80s, combined on the master's own deck. It is a rather brilliant selection of tracks, from the pop fluff of Nu Shooz's "I Can't Wait" (containing possibly the coolest synth sound of the '80s) to acknowledged genre classics like Liquid Liquid's punk-funk milestone "Cavern" (the birthplace of the famous bass line from Flash's later hit "White Lines") and Indeep's "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life." Flash keeps the cutting and scratching to a minimum, preferring to let the songs groove on their own. This isn't a full-length display of bravura technique like the genre-defining masterpiece "The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel," but as a suite of old-school ...
| | 2 Live Crew Move Somethin' CD (1987)
Voila music CDs
$13.75 Nestled between two censorship cases, 2 Live Crew's 1988 sophomore album, MOVE SOMETHIN', did not ignite an uproar like the albums before or after; however, it captures the Miami foursome led by Luke on its ascent to booty juggernaut. While the hip-hop outfit was mostly known for its playfully offensive ...
