Since the release of 2002's Fight, headbangers waited four long years for a follow-up from one of metal's top female vocalists, Doro. But the wait was over by 2006, as the singer follows the same path she's always chosen on Warrior Soul, a mixture of metal and power ballads. One of Doro's more bombastic tracks, "You're My Family," kicks things off, before leading to such metallic rockers as "Thunderspell" and the title track. More serene material has always found its way onto Doro's solo releases, and "Above the Ashes" and "In Liebe und Fruendschaft" are the tearjerkers here. And as evidenced by the epic album closer "Shine On," there are even tracks that manage to combine both styles together as one. For fans of melodic yet tough '80s-era metal (ŕ la Judas Priest and Iron Maiden), Warrior Soul is loaded with metallic goodies. ~ Greg Prato

| Warrior Soul Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) Singing Warrior The title of the CD is perfect because in a ever changing metal scene, Doro is still singing great songs. If you are a Doro fan, what are you waiting for? If you like metal music and would like to hear a female soar, This is the best time and CD!
I believe Doro still has her great vocal range. I love to hear this syren sing and mesmerize me. The band are great but overshadowed by Doro's vocals.
The Songs to listen to are "Thunderspell", "Warrior Soul", "Above The Ashes", and "Haunted Haert". Although I do miss some of the harder songs from her Warlock days, I still love to hear Doro sing one song in complete German "In Liebe Und Freundschaft". I don't know the words without deciphering them, but I love to hear her sing in her native tongue. Submitted by normanac03 (Madison, FL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
1983-2008 Doro still ROCKS!!! Ever since Warlock released their first album back in 1983, I have been hooked on Doro Pesch. Indeed she has a Warrior Soul, and this CD is just as good and fresh as Warlocks first CD all those years ago. Thunderspell will rock you out of your socks, You Are My Family a tribute to Doro's fans, this song is for us. Above The Ashes a beautiful ballad, Doro can sing anything you want. Well worth the $14.00 you will spend for this CD. What are You Waiting For? Check Her Out!! Submitted by antrut (Seymour, IN) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Superb Return to Metal This is an awesome return to DORO's 80s style of heavy metal, of course certainly with a modern sound. It's heavy, and passionate...is that even possible with heavy metal?...well it IS, with lovely Doro Pesch on vocals of course it is.
Long Live DORO! Submitted by gabr2082 (Tempe, Az) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Warrior Soul album
$13.45 When Nirvana and Pearl Jam exploded commercially in the early '90s and alternative rock became mainstream, a lot of '80s headbangers fell by the wayside. Pop-metal hair bands (Poison, Warrant) and gothic-themed fantasy metallers (Iron Maiden, King Diamond) both went out of vogue, and in this brave new rock world, the headbangers who were considered cutting edge embraced alternative metal (which could be anything from Ministry to Sevendust to Rage Against the Machine). But Doro is one '80s survivor who has kept plugging away; she isn't headlining Madison Square Garden, but still caters to a loyal group of die-hard fans. Released in 2002, Fight finds ...

Warrior Soul music CDs
$9.99 There's something about a post-millennium album cover that features a giant blue-horned minion of Satan in pre-pounce with an illuminated crystal ball in its leathery hand that simply warms the soul, and the fact that it adorns a record called Master of the Moon can mean only one thing: Dio. Unlike many in the aging metal community, Ronnie James Dio still possesses the same powerful voice that fueled the genre through its late-'70s and '80s heydays, and the reigning dark prince of Elfdom and two-time Black Sabbath frontman is still capable of writing a killer song or two. MOTM resembles earlier works ...

| | Box Of Scorpions CDs (2004) Boxed Set
Warrior Soul music CDs
$35.49 The average listener with only a passing interest in heavy metal might be surprised that the Scorpions had been recording since 1972 -- they actually formed in 1965 -- as their success in the United States didn't really begin until the release of 1982's Blackout. Hip-O's Box of Scorpions is the first U.S.-released box set from the veteran German rockers to sample from their entire 30-year career. Disc one pays keen attention to their progressive rock tendencies in the '70s with guitarist Uli Jon Roth. It opens with "I'm Going Mad," the leadoff cut from their debut 1972 album, Lonesome Crow, a meandering, psychedelic wish list of a record that begs for comparisons to Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, and proceeds through to 1978's Taken by Force -- the 96k/24-bit digital remastering does wonders for these early tracks, especially on the rhythm section. Disc two is the one that delivers the goods, as it contains pretty much every hit the band ever had -- the '80s were good to the Scorpions, spawning career solidifying smashes like "No One Like You," "Rock You Like a Hurricane," and the most powerful "power ballad" ever, "Still Loving You." The third disc collects material from the '90s and beyond, including the gentle whistling of Klaus Meine on the German reunification anthem "Winds of Change" and an unintentionally hilarious orchestral Berlin ...

$13.59 This is a strange, intermittently fascinating, slightly disturbing, and ultimately simply rather puzzling album. Based on a text taken from the Cantus Circaeus (Incantation of Circe) of Renaissance cosmologist Giordano Bruno, Athlantis is something like an oratorio -- though its musical influences are all over the place and draw as much ...

$10.15 Artist InformationInstrumentationJennie Knaggs: Vocals, Guitar, AccordionAnderson Walworth: Vocals, Guitar, BassCharlie McCutcheon: Drums, VocalsMike Ventimiglia: Bass, KeyboardBiographyI, Crime doesn’t need a lot of hyphens for its sound. This four piece rock combo from Detroit distinguishes itself by careful attention to catchy vocal hooks and songs that develop and build to climaxes. As a whole the music has a timeless quality and is fairly unconnected to any trend in rock; the songwriting team of Anderson Walworth and Jennie Knaggs supply enough raw talent and subtlety to keep the music compelling without resorting to superficial stylistic trappings.Originally a trio formed with drummer Charlie McCutcheon, I, Crime released its first ...
