(3 Customer Reviews)
This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other.
On 2006's LIMON Y SAL, popular Mexican singer-songwriter Julieta Venegas builds on the buoyant pop of her highly successful '03 album, SI. "Me Voy" sets the disc's sunny tone, with shimmering guitar lines and steady rhythms, while the title track coasts along on a shuffling beat, allowing Venegas's full-bodied voice to shine. Although longtime fans might be disappointed that the performer didn't return to her Rock en Espanol roots on this outing, LIMON Y SAL stands as one of Venegas's most consistent and immediately enjoyable offerings.
This dualdisc contains 10+ new songs on the CD side, produced by Cachorro Lopez, compsed by Julieta, with 3 songs written by Coti Sorokin. The DVD side includes the entire 13-track album in 5.1 surround sound and images from the making of the album.
Personnel: Julieta Venegas (vocals, various instruments, programming); Juanchi Baleiron (acoustic guitar, electric guitar); Cachorro López (baritone guitar); Dany Avila (drums); Facundo Guevara (percussion); Coti Sorokin (background vocals). Limon Y Sal Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) La Julieta es lo mejor Limón Y Sal is some fine Latin alternative pop, Julieta style. There's energy and honesty, and honest energy, in every track. This is grown-up music, with a sense of playfulness. If you're a fan of Shakira's pre-peroxide music (Pies Descalzos and Donde Estan Los Ladrones), you will love this album. Guaranteed. Submitted by Miles (Calgary, AB, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Limon Y Sal album
$7.59 BEUNINVENTO was nominated for the 2001 Latin Grammy Award for Best Rock Solo Vocal Album. "Hoy No Quiero" was nominated for the 2001 Latin Grammy Award for Best Rock Song.
Julieta Venegas made a remarkable debut in 1998 with Aquí, an album of enormous breadth and boldness. Her follow-up, Bueninvento, is no less bold, though it is more stylistically consistent from beginning to end. The piano songs that characterized the second half of Aquí are nowhere to be found on Bueninvento, as Venegas instead delves headlong into the style of driving rock en español exemplified by "De Mis Pasos," one of the two singles from Aquí. Like "De Mis Pasos," the songs of Bueninvento are driven by drums (often programmed), accordion accents, electric guitar, and compelling choruses. There's also a lot of keyboard, which becomes evident immediately, on the album-opener, "Fé," which sounds like an amped-up rewrite of "Cómo Sé," the other single from Aquí. The second song on Bueninvento, "Hoy No Quiero," makes evident ...

| | La Oreja De Van Gogh Lo Que Te Conte Mientras Te Hacias La Dormida CD (2003)
Limon Y Sal music CDs
$10.09 LO QUE TE CONTE MIENTRAS TE HACIAS LA DORMIDA was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album.
Although at first listen La Oreja de Van Gogh's third release might sound like a slick rehashing of the same pop formula that had brought the group consistent commercial success, Lo Que Te Conté Mientras Te Hacías la Dormida (What I Told You While You Pretended to Be Asleep) merits closer attention. Beyond some similarities to their earlier work -- nostalgic lyrics, ridiculously catchy choruses, and lead singer Amaia Montero's seemingly fragile delivery -- this album displays far greater emotional and musical range than do their earlier efforts. Montero and keyboard player Xabi San Martín continue to write most of the music, and guitar player Pablo Benegas most of the lyrics, but there are some notable exceptions, like album opener and first single "Puedes Contar Conmigo" (You Can Count on Me), written entirely by Montero. Here she abandons any former posturing as a helpless ...

| | Big George Brock Live At Seventy Five CD (2007)
Limon Y Sal album
$13.49 Recording information: 05/12/2007.
ABOUT THE "LIVE" CD: "Not many of us left of the old school, but they don't come any better than Big George Brock." After this brief testimonial by 80-year-old Sonny Payne of Helena, Arkansas' famed King Biscuit Time radio show, Big George Brock tells the packed house that he's "here to please you, not to tease you." Then, he goes on to prove it throughout this brand-new, hour-long live album — the much heralded follow-up to Brock's Blues Music Award-nominated "Round Two." After 67 years of singing blues and playing harmonica, 75-year-old Brock IS the blues. Best known for his high-energy, "step-back-in-time" live shows, it's fitting that Brock recorded this incredible concert performance on the eve of his 75th birthday at world-famous Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, Mississippi — his old stomping grounds. Brock mixes his own fine originals with highly-personalized covers, the band is hot and the results are magical.ABOUT BIG GEORGE BROCK: Big George Brock may well be one of the most underrated blues harmonica players ...

| | Elvis Costello My Aim Is True CD (1977) Digipak; Special Edition
Limon Y Sal music CDs
$12.05 The 2001 edition of MY AIM IS TRUE comes with a bonus disc of rare material including demos and alternative versions of songs.
When MY AIM IS TRUE was released in 1977, no one knew that the character on the cover, with coke-bottle glasses, ill-fitting clothes, and Jerry Lewis posture would become a pop-culture icon. Elvis Costello arrived as the uber-geek, hell-bent on blowing away years of macho rock posturing with his revenge-of-the-nerds image and sharp, snappy sound, instantly defining New Wave. In retrospect, the songs--with echoes of everything from the Band ("Blame It on Cain") to the Byrds ("[The Angels Wanna Wear My] Red Shoes")--owed more to rootsy pub-rock than it did to punk, but it was still miles beyond the hairy-chested ...
