| | Sheena Easton Lover In Me CD Sheena Easton Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
Digitally remastered and expanded edition of the Scottish diva's 1988 album now including four bonus tracks. The Lover In Me was Sheena's eigtth studio album and was produced by Babyface and LA Reid. With her squeaky clean image wiped away by her 1984 hit, 'Sugar Walls', Sheena was able to continue her tranformation into a sultry R&B sex kitten on The Lover In Me, gaining a whole new audience. The album has a slightly harder urban edge than anything she had recorded up to this point, but still retains melody and charm. You can take the girl away from her Scottish roots, but you can't take the Scottish roots away from the girl! Includes '101' and 'Cool Love' (written by Prince) plus four bonus tracks featuring 'The Lover In Me' (Extended Version) and 'Days Like This' ( 7" Version). Cherry Pop. 2009.
Producers: Prince, L.A. and Babyface, Angela Winbush and Jellybean Benitez.
Lover In Me Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) overlooked late 80's hits "No Deposit,No Return"and"The Lover In Me"are the better tracks on this set.The remix/radio versions included at the end of the cd for those two songs are a nice touch. But the real gem here is"Follow My Rainbow"which could have easily been released as another single. It's one of those stand alone power ballads and she delivers it with ease. The overall production and sound of the cd is very slick and reminds me of work done by Karyn White. For 80's fans, this cd is definitely worth a listen. Sheena Easton! Pop Icon The Lover in me was a new beginning for Sheena Easton. It was a transformation of sound and image and she pulled it off completely with this disc.
I remember seeing the video for "The Lover in Me" and thinking Sheena is not sweet and innocent any longer. Now she was grown and sexy. I consider that growth for an artist.
Singles:
The Lover In Me, Days Like This, 101, and No Deposit, No Return.
The disc has a early urban R&B sound and still holds up today. This is remastered and you can hear the difference in the sound. Crisp!
The bonus's are the remixes of the singles which brings another version of the songs to the listener. Just check it out for yourself ,and just enjoy.
Peace,
Sanatino

Great underrated dance/pop album! This cd rivals Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson and even Madonna! This was so fresh in 1988 and now even fresher remastered with bonus tracks! Sheena's got one of the best voices around and should be appreciated for her talent. This cd containes two big hit singles ("The Lover in Me" & "Days Like This") as well as Prince-penned "101" (under the alias of Johnny Coco). This is Sheena's best album, next to 'Private Heaven', her most successful album, which is curiously out of print. Submitted by Sara (US of A) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Carter Family 1927-1934 CDs (2002) (Import) United Kingdom
Lover In Me
$26.75 A comprehensive budget compilation by the dependable JSP label, the five-disc 1927-1934 fully covers the first seven years of the Carter Family's musical career and features recordings that are the basis of the trio's honored place in the country music firmament. The set starts, appropriately enough, with the Carters' six contributions to Ralph Peer's legendary 1927 recording sessions in Bristol, Tennessee, and then chronologically wades through every released side that A.P., Sara, and Maybelle recorded for RCA Victor. (This excludes alternate takes that are readily available on Rounder and Bear Family reissues covering the same era.)
Unlike similar collections, where much of the listening intrigue comes from charting the artists' development, the Carters' sound is presented fully formed from the opening track, "Bury Me Under the Weeping Willow," ...

| | Backstreet Boys Unbreakable CD (2007)
Lover In Me
$11.29 The lead-off single, "Inconsolable," a romantic ballad with a dramatic punch, is a case in point; as is the sweet, mid-tempo ballad "Something I Already Know." Ballads and love songs were always one of the Backstreet Boys' specialties, and UNBREAKABLE plays to that strength, with six of the album's tracks sounding tailor-made for adult contemporary radio. But the group hasn't abandoned its dance-pop roots, as the energized "Everything But Mine" and the edgier-sounding "Treat Me Right" attest. A strong statement by the last classic boy band still standing, UNBREAKABLE will satisfy longtime devotees who have grown up right alongside them.
By 2007, the Backstreet Boys weren't exactly boys anymore, but UNBREAKABLE, the group's seventh release, proved they still had the easy-breezy boyish charm that made them darlings of the late-1990s teen-pop set. Here a quartet (Kevin Richardson left the band while they were recording UNBREAKABLE), the Boys are streamlined, and the fact that the members are older is reflected in the album's lean toward adult contemporary material.
Additional personnel: John Shanks (guitar, keyboards); Mitch Allan (guitar, bass guitar); Dave Schuler, Billy Mann (guitar); Emanuel Kiriakou (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, keyboards, bass guitar, percussion, programming); Chuck Butler (electric guitar, bass ...
| | Britney Spears Blackout CD (2007)
Lover In Me
$11.29 Buoyed by the massive club-oriented hit "Gimme More," the record sports a slick, nearly armor-like techno veneer that extends to every track, from the pulsing above-mentioned single to the tinny "Toy Soldier" to the R&B-tinged "Why Should I Be Sad." While Spears takes on media criticism most directly on the Vocoder-laced "Piece of Me," she also offers up some giddy escapism, most notably on the floating synth-pop of "Heaven on Earth," a strong contender for BLACKOUT's finest moment. Although the album doesn't erase many of Britney's woes, it arguably serves as her best record since OOPS!... I DID IT AGAIN, and that alone should make it a delight for many fans.
Issued in late 2007, BLACKOUT is the much-touted comeback album that was designed to pull Britney Spears out from under the considerably large personal and professional shadows that had crept into her life. From Spears's bizarre head-shaving incident to her parental custody struggles to her critically reviled MTV Video Music Awards performance, most of the year was an exceedingly long train wreck for the pop superstar, and those events, to some degree, inform BLACKOUT, which stands out as a defiantly bold dance-pop ...

$18.59 | | Eric Bachmann Reservoir Songs CD (2002)
Lover In Me
$9.45 More of a fun aside than a proper Crooked Fingers album, 2002's RESERVOIR SONGS skips Eric Bachmann's usual blend of spirited rock & roll and confessional poetry in favor of a quick, righteously sloppy run-through of several of the covers the band uses to close shows. It's a fairly eclectic mix, although themes of isolation and alienation, typical for Bachmann, predominate. The treatments range from respectful and pretty faithful versions of Kris Kristofferson's "Sunday Morning Coming Down" and Bruce Springsteen's "The River" to enjoyably rough-edged and rocking versions of Neil Diamond's "Solitary Man" and Prince's power-poppy "When You Were Mine."
The Diamond and Prince tunes benefit from the band's clattering way with a tune, a mixture of the early Band's earthiness (Alex McManus contributes euphonium, of all instruments, to a couple of tracks) and the rock & roll swagger of prime Faces. The one track that doesn't quite work is a remake of Queen and David Bowie's "Under Pressure"; by de-emphasizing that famous bass line, the very heart of the song is removed. Other than that one misstep, RESERVOIR SONGS is a hoot.
Recorded in Atlanta, Georgia on January 11-15, 2002.

Lover In Me
$13.05 Following the 2005 dissolution of the revered Glasgow-based indie-rock group the Delgados, singer/guitarist Emma Pollock ventured out on her own, signing a deal with the renowned 4AD label, and issuing WATCH THE FIREWORKS in '07. With its moments of driving guitar lines and crashing percussion, "Adrenaline" sounds like it could have been on a latter-day Delgados album, while the meditative "Limbs" points to a more subdued aesthetic for the Scottish performer, allowing the ...
