Sergei Prokofiev's Captain Kangaroo Narrates Peter and the Wolf contains three tracks: a 25-minute version of Peter and the Wolf wonderfully narrated by Captain Kangaroo and two classical pieces performed by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cinderella Suite and The Ugly Duckling, Opus No. 18. Captain Kangaroo's telling of the story of Peter and the Wolf is sweet and engaging. A classic children's album that will delight and entertain with its mix of storytelling and evocative classical music. The album is a little heavy on the classical music, and by the end of the only story on the disc, kids might be eager for more storytelling. ~ JT Griffith
Liner Note Authors: Leopold Stokowski; Bob Keeshan [Captain Kangaroo].
This is a Classic Recording, the Best!!! I have not heard this in thirty odd years! We had the LP back in the mid-70's. I still have it but it is scratched. This is the only version of Peter and the Wolf I have ever liked. All the others do not even come close to Captain Kangaroo's narration. The sounds of each instrument are clear and strong. Listen to the music, and narration than let your mind go! As soon as I finish typing this I'm ordering two of this CD. One for me and one as a gift.
