| | Silver Mountain Universe CD - Import Silver Mountain Discography of CDs
Domestically available for the first time on CD is the sophomore release by Sweden's Silver Mountain. Originally released in 1984, UNIVERSE revealed a revamped and tightened incarnation of the band. Incorporating classical passages for the first time, Silver Mountain is much more musically focused here as they shed the early Deep Purple influence and add touches of gothic rock to their sound. The result is that UNIVERSE established this band as a driving force in the Scandinavian metal community. Although the Johansson brothers had already left to join Yngwie Malmsteen's band prior to the recording of this milestone, Silver Mountain's second release is actually more dynamic than the band's debut. Universe
$13.58 Georgia-based psychedelic rock band (calling them a metal act seems very reductive, though there's some seriously headbangable material on this disc) Baroness has made a subtle but unmistakable evolutionary leap on this, their second full-length and a clear companion piece to 2007's RED ALBUM. It's hard to say exactly what new guitarist Pete Adams has brought to the band after replacing drummer Allen Blickle's brother Brian, but the band's established blend of Southern sludge riffs, druggy instrumental journeys, and melodic interstitial interludes, all propelled by a particularly thudding ...
| | Atreyu Congregation Of The Damned CD (2009)
Universe
$11.16 On their latest effort, Atreyu come with more of the same metalcore that listeners have come to expect from the band. All of the familiar elements are in place, with the alternating screaming/soaring vocals, thundering double bass drumming, and big, crunchy riffage. The difference here is that the band seems to have mellowed out a bit, opting for a more melodic approach. Like their last album, the songs here feel somewhat restrained, like they're just dying to break ...

| | Alice In Chains Facelift CD (1990)
Universe
$6.75 Long before the phrase, "Seattle scene" spoke of an impact that a new generation of musicians was having on rock music, Alice in Chains was struggling to be recognized in the shadow of bands that were more focused on image than craft. On FACELIFT, the band's major label debut, Alice in Chains proved that its fusion of blues, hard rock, and gritty imagery was a force to be reckoned with. While college radio stations ate up fare like "It Ain't Like That" and "We Die Young," the song "Man in a Box" became a banner track that pushed the band into the forefront of heavy rotation on MTV and the playlists of mainstream rock radio stations.
Vocalist Layne Staley's moody, dynamic vocals on "Love, Hate, Love" tell a chilling tale of a homicidal psychotic lamenting and musing over what he's done to his lover. On tracks such as "Sea of Sorrow" and "I Can't Remember," guitarist Jerry Cantrell shows equally impressive skill in Sabbath-styled riffing, blues licks, and Hendrix-influenced solos. Alice in Chains ...

$10.69 After the fierce, politically charged HOUSES OF THE MOLE and its companion piece, RANTOLOGY, Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen launches another anti-George W. | | Steve Savitzky Coffee Computers & Song CD (2007)
Universe
$15.19 Steve Savitzky is a hacker/songwriter who learned both hacking (in its original sense of "programming for fun") and folksinging back in the 1960's; he discovered organized science fiction fandom and filk, its indigenous folk music (i.e. was dragged to his first SF convention) in 1978, and wrote his first "real" filksong shortly thereafter. About half of his songs are about computers; some, like "The World Inside the Crystal", are even serious. He occasionally performs as part of a group called "Tres Gique".In his professional life as a computer scientist (a glorified term for "middle-aged hacker"), he is currently interested in such minor arcana as web publishing, lightweight content-management systems, online communities, macro-based HTML formatting engines, peer-to-peer filesharing, and RESTful web service APIs. He is a strong proponent of open-source software, a heavy Linux user, and a card-carrying member ...
| | Denny Lee Truth CD (2008)
Universe
$10.15 the whole truth and nothing but the truth has very little meaning in today’s world. It is completely ignored by our government, our politicians and especially, our law enforcement. As I put it so gently in one verse of my song taken from “Uncle Sam’s World” “they wouldn’t know the truth if it bit them in the ass.” What this CD represents is an honest look at our world as it is today. One out of every hundred people in our United States of America is a convicted felon. We have become the laughing stock of the world. This CD wasn’t meant to be pretty, it was meant to be nasty. It was meant to be listened too and it was meant to tell people the truth. Those of you on probation are feeling “Johnny Law” and you’ll know what I’m referring to in these songs. I cover a lot of territory in these songs but I also speak the truth. This CD will be bought by those that believe our country is going to hell in a hand-basket in a hurry. This CD will be bought by people that are rebels against what the United States of America has to offer them. Probation Gods refers to the Probation Officer and what is said is the truth believe it or not. I know someone on probation and believe me; these people think they are God. The Department of Correction should be re-named the Department of Corruption because that’s what they are doing to our young people. They aren’t curing anything, because they are the problem not the solution. The song Lawyers in General points out if you don’t have the money, you will go to jail. It points out that money is what runs the judicial system not whether you’re guilty or not guilty. It’s all about Money. The song “It’s A Crazy World” points out that Politicians are the real culprits in our society. They are the ones that make the rules. Not you and I; but politicians. Because of some of the language used in the songs, this CD cannot be ...
