The tracks of Malheiro's stunning 2006 debut CD "Equilibria" receive fresh guises in the form of remixes assembled for this collection. The list of remixers reads like a who’s who of the hippest cats around – Nicole Conte, Quantic, Spiritual South, Kenny "Dope" Gonzales, Kirk Degiorgio, Incognito & Venom, as well as hotly tipped mixes from upstarts Max Cole & Beatnik and Boston Rodriguez. One of the many highlights featured are the hip-hop beats on the instrumental version of "Equilibria" plus a bonus track from Malheiros contributed for this disc– a fiery drum ‘n’ bass cut called "Lemanja". The remixes by Nicola Conte, Kirk Degiorgio, Boston Rodriguez and Max Cole & Beatnik are all exclusive to this CD (as is the bonus track and instrumental). The mixes from Quantic, Spiritual South, Kenny Dope, Incognito, Venom and Roc Hunter were previously released on limited DJ vinyl runs. "Vibrasons" only adds greater perspective to "Equilibria" with its smooth mix of styles and tempos. Sabrina Malheiros Vibrasons Songs | 1. | Terra de Ningeum (Mixed by Nicola Conte) | |

| | Ray Davies Kinks Choral Collection CD (2009)
Vibrasons CD music
$15.05 Orchestral and choral arrangements of rock songs have been a curious subgenre ever since the mid-'60s when Andrew Loog Oldham arranged The Rolling Stones Songbook for syrupy strings, but The Kinks Choral Collection stands apart from the pack for the simple reason that it's not the project of some associate or admirer, but rather chief Kink Ray Davies. His very presence as arranger and lead vocal means The Kinks Choral Collection isn't nearly as stuffy and middlebrow as so many of these orchestral rock albums; he manages to inject some semblance of rock & roll by pushing the songs forward with guitar, and letting the rhythms swing instead of plod. This looseness is the first big surprise of the album. The second is its unrepentant but quite possibly accidental silliness, how many of the major guitar riffs are transposed for choir, an audacious idea in concept that's simply goofy in practice. These choral chants hamper the hardest rocking songs here -- "You Really Got Me," "All Day and All of the Night," "Victoria" -- and they're mercifully absent from the slower tunes, songs that benefit from the gentle layered harmonies. In comparison to most orchestral and choral rock albums, these arrangements are subtle and sensitive, providing a nice ...
| | Reba Mcentire Sweet Sixteen (Mca Special Products) CD (1989)
Vibrasons music CDs
$5.95 Reba McEntire's 13th regular studio album Reba shocked some fans and critics by taking a distinct pop crossover direction after several years during which she maintained that she was a neo-traditionalist country artist. On Reba, the fiddles and steel guitars were banned from the studio as McEntire made like Aretha Franklin singing "Respect." The album topped the Billboard country charts for eight weeks, but McEntire seems to have felt that she should reassure her country base, and so Sweet Sixteen (which is her 16th album only if you count her Greatest Hits and Merry Christmas to You) welcomes the fiddles and steel guitars back as she returns to the neo-traditionalist fold. This is an album on which McEntire doubles back to a formula that worked for her in the past. Kendal Franceschi and Quentin Powers wrote her 1986 career song "Whoever's in New England," and they are back for two selections here, both of which have some of the melancholy of that ballad, but aren't as good. "It Always Rains on Saturday," for which McEntire claims a co-writing credit, takes too long to get to the point of its story, that the narrator is a divorced mother made lonely when her young son goes off to spend the weekends with his father. "Little Girl" (which became the LP's third country Top Ten hit) has the singer confessing to being overanxious and to having failed at love again. McEntire once coaxed a major hit, "Somebody Should Leave," from legendary country songwriter Harlan Howard. She hasn't obtained another one from him, but she has crossed pens with another heavyweight tunesmith, Don Schlitz, co-writing "Am I the Only One Who Cares," a too-cute story song about a fight between a mother and her teenager daughter that is mediated by a talking moon (!), and "You Must Really Love Me," a bluegrass workout in the style of Emmylou Harris. Another genre exercise is "'Til Love Comes Again" (the record's second country Top Ten), which leans heavily on fiddle and steel guitar and sounds like it was written for Patsy Cline, whom McEntire successfully impersonates. "Say the Word" investigates still another familiar country style, honky tonk. The album's pop elements are either muted or more closely tied to country than those on Reba. The track list begins with a ...

Vibrasons CD music
$8.60 Recorded live with brief and unobtrusive emceeing in 1949 at the Empire in Hollywood, CA, this remarkably satisfying album of West Coast cool bop is so exceptional that anyone who gives a rip about honest jazz is advised to seek it out and soak it up. This disc contains what is quite possibly some of the very best music ever recorded by saxophonist Georgie Auld. A veteran of bands led by Bunny Berigan, Artie Shaw, Jan Savitt and Benny Goodman, Auld led his own big band from 1943 to 1946. The ten-piece group heard live at the Empire in 1949 used arrangements by Neal Hefti, Billy Byers and Gerry Mulligan, who blew his baritone sax alongside reedmen Georgie Auld, Pete Terry and Clint Neagley, trumpeter Neal Hefti and tenor trombonist Billy Byers. The rhythm section consisted of pianist Jimmy Rowles, bassist Joe Mondragon, drummer Alvin Stoller and Karl Kiffe on bongos. This band was ...
