| | Ultimate Yma Sumac Collection CD (2000)
Ultimate Most Relaxing New Age Piano In The Universe songs
$10.99 Yma Sumac is an outrageous Goddess of the exotic and the unusual. Her music conjures images of an imaginary ancient Peru as filtered through cartoon-like 1950s Hollywood, filled with pagan sacrifices, sun rituals, Amazon headhunters, and her, a high priestess, reigning over the proceedings with that incredible five octave voice.
Yma Sumac was born in the tiny mountain village of Ichocan, Peru to a family allegedly descended from Atahualpa, the last Inca. While in her teens she and Peruvian composer Moises Vivanco began making the music that combined Peruvian folk themes with complex orchestral arrangements over her exotic vocalizations. THE ULTIMATE YMA SUMAC COLLECTION brings together the best tracks from her decade-long recording career for Capitol (which spanned the '50s).
Included in this collection is the eerie "Chuncho (The Forest Creatures)" from her classic INCA TAQUI album where she imitates all the creatures of the rainforest over a hypnotic guitar-based groove, and the exotic standard "Wimoweh," which later became a hit for the Tokens as "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." The collection also includes rare tracks and previously unreleased material, as well as a collectible booklet that has reproductions of all Sumac's album covers ...

| | Meat Beat Manifesto At The Center CD (2005)
Ultimate Most Relaxing New Age Piano In The Universe music CDs
$14.15 An evocative, experimental album, AT THE CENTER is another ambitious outing from Meat Beat Manifesto, a band that has largely been the vehicle for multi-instrumentalist/composer/programmer/producer Jack Dangers. Those familiar with Meat Beat Manifesto's discography know Dangers's penchant for mixing genres and styles with edgy, daring aplomb. Previous releases have incorporated industrial, hip-hop, dub, electronica, and avant-noise; it seems only natural for Dangers to dabble in jazz.
His first release on Thirsty Ear's Blue Series (a series dedicated to futuristic jazz), Danger's turns in a textured, mind-tickling work that, while using large chunks of jazz vocabulary, also draws from stylistic elements of his earlier work. With help from Greg Taborn (keyboards), Dave King (drums), and Peter Gordon (flute), Dangers (who plays bass, bass flute, and bass clarinet, in addition to fashioning the ever-shifting soundscapes here) alights on a unique fusion music that sounds something like BITCHES BREW with a turntablist sitting in. Swirling grooves are offset by witty, unsettling vocal samples ("Want Ads One), dubby jazz-funk jams open spaces for Gordon's flute ("Blind"), and abstract post bop balladry is filtered through ambient sonics ("Murita Cycles"). ...
| | Nick Lachey What's Left Of Me CD (2006) (Import)
Ultimate Most Relaxing New Age Piano In The Universe songs
$26.29 It's hard being an ex-boy band member and an ex-husband, and Nick Lachey (formerly of 98 Degrees and Jessica Simpson, respectively) tells the world all about it on WHAT'S LEFT OF ME. Not surprisingly, Lachey makes no radical stylistic departures on his sophomore release, sticking with his easy-on-the-ears blend of adult-contemporary commercial pop.
There's not a trace of uptempo dance here, and only a few moments with any requisite rock crunch. Instead, Lachey leans heavily on ballads, pouring his heart out in narratives of emotional desolation and anguish. It is Lachey's bare-it-all expressiveness that makes WHAT'S LEFT OF ME stick, however, as ...
