Aces Kings And Fifi Queens CD music
$16.45 Our first commercial release, "I Coulda Been" combines blistering guitar, soaring harmonica, and down-and-dirty blues vocals in 12 original songs. Whether you like your blues straight up or with a rock and roll edge, this album is for you. Here's what the critics have to say:"A rather amazing CD" Blues Groove"Certainly a cut above." Juke Blues"Rollicking blues and blues rock. Often, lyrical genius." Fort Wayne News-Gazette"Fresh, funky and fun...a highly enjoyable album." South Bend Tribune. "Twelve creative originals recorded with the utmost style and panache." WhatZup Entertainment Magazine.Three #1 singles on MP3 's Electric Blues Charts"Medicated Woman" was the #17 most popular download in Amazon 's Contemporary Blues category. Following is a rundown of the songs:Medicated Woman Writer: Bill KolterSong Style: Upbeat shuffleThis song started out to be a comment on the ever-increasing dependence on pharmaceuticals to address everything from jumpy children to bad moods. About halfway through writing the song, we switched gears and broadened the character to be an all-out, "never-saw-a-substance-I-wouldn't-abuse" addict. Her long-suffering partner telling the story turns out to be almost as pathetic in his indecisive, frustrated attempts to deal with her. The bouncy tempo and joyful solos belie the serious issue, and emphasize that the narrator is really not dealing with it. I Coulda BeenWriter: Zeek BaileySong Style: Mannish Boy with a mean streakZeek and Ted drive the CD's title song with a pounding, classic blues rhythm. The story could be the character's regrets about what he didn't do with his life....or it could be a warning about taking rides with strangers. Zeek's songs are always quirky and open to interpretation...High Maintenance WomanWriter: Bill GierasSong Style: Funky BluesTed and Zeek ...

| | Louis Ledford Reverie CD (2004)
Aces Kings And Fifi Queens CD music
$13.15 On Reverie, Louis Ledford reminds one a little bit of an early Bob Dylan. He's a little scruffy around the edges and world-weary, giving the impression of someone who's done some hard traveling. This impression only holds true for the first two tracks ("All of My Dreams/Most of the Time" and "Make It Home") before shifting abruptly to alternative country on "Belle Isle." In both cases, though, Ledford retains a melancholy mood and has a lot to say about life's hard knocks. One gains the impression on "Lonesome Road" of lives that somehow fell short of their potential as possibilities narrowed. "Belle Isle" is a very long tale about the horrors of prison life during the Civil War, while "Lately," to borrow from Ledford's notes, is "about addiction, deception, anger, and violence." This makes the occasional deviation a relief. "Maury Street" combines a nice bit of blues with a bouncy backbeat, the kind of thing that Tom Waits might tear into. The lyrics here may sound just as desperate as anything on the album, but the bouncy beat gives the song a romantic edge. These songs, like some of Dylan's, are often long, and may try the non-folknik's patience. Ledford, however, has made a solid album, updating folk and, on occasion, country for the post-millennium. ~ Ronnie D. Lankford, Jr.
"Louis Ledford is a great songwriter; witty, insightful, and observant regarding the oddities of human behavior. There is a real powerful air of truth in his music." - J. Kelly, Creative Loafing, Atlanta"Ledford's attention to lyrical detail is simply stunning." -J. Holgren, 9 X Music MagazineThis guy's music will sneak up on ya. Although a city kid born and raised in Richmond, VA, Louis Ledford's familiar roots lay in Western North Carolina and Southwestern Virginia where as a child he soaked up the rural culture and music. Ledford spent much of the 1990's fronting and writing songs for the Alt Country band Used Carlotta. He borrows from ...
