| | Reggie Houston Wordless Praise CD Reggie Houston Discography of CDs
Reggie is a second generation New Orleans musician who not only plays great saxophone and percussion but can be countd on for warm, jazzy vocals, a fine comedy sense, and a charismatic stage presence. As one New Orleans reviewer writes, "Houston serves as a musical straight man to the up-and-ar-em Neville, reacting with Fats Waller-ish mock surprise to her 'Fish Fry' lyrics."Since studying with New Orleans musicians Edward "Kid" Jordan and Alvin Batiste, Reggie has gone on to do regular gigs with such greats as Irma Thomas and Fats Domino, as well as with Charmaine and Amasa. Reggie has also recently recorded with Buffy Saint-Marie and Peter Gabriel. check out Reggie's solo CD "Wordless Praise" Wordless Praise Music | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, Jazz CDs | | Label | Nawlins Cartunes | | Orig Year | 1999 | | CD Universe Part number | 7152922 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Jun 23, 2003 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Recording Time | 41 minutes |

Wordless Praise album
$15.05 With The Fall, Norah Jones completes the transition away from her smooth cabaret beginnings and toward a mellowly arty, modern singer/songwriter. Jones began this shift on 2007's Not Too Late, an album that gently rejected her tendencies for lulling, tasteful crooning, but The Fall is a stronger, more cohesive work, maintaining an elegantly dreamy state that's faithful to the crooner of Come Away with Me while feeling decidedly less classicist. Some of this could be attributed to Jones' choice of producer, Jacquire King, best-known ...

Wordless Praise songs
$15.19 THE LOOK OF LOVE won the 2002 Grammy Award For Best Engineered Album.
This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
While there's no denying that jazz-pop star Diana Krall's movie-star good looks went a long way toward endearing her to mainstream America, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Just as undeniable are Krall's gifts as a pianist and singer. Far from a crass populist, she's a subtle, nuanced performer who approaches her craft with an excess of skill and knowledge. This is apparent from the very beginning of THE LOOK OF LOVE, when Krall tackles the overly familiar Gershwin chestnut "S'Wonderful" ...

| | Walter Savage Soothes The Savage Beast CD (1999)
Wordless Praise album
$18.99 Walter Savage is another artist from San Francisco's large and active jazz community. A bassist of considerable talent, this album debuts him as a leader. The title of the album is a take-off on William Shakespeare's famous conclusion that "Music soothes the savage breast." Often "breast" is erroneously substituted by "beast" and with the leader's name being Savage, well hence the title. But the music is anything but brutish. There's an assorted play list of compositions by Savage running the gamut from mainstream jazz, such as "Cah La La La La La," the exotic "Thai Forest," and the modern "Morning Bird." It's on this track that Savage displays his considerable virtuosity on bass -- he takes a long solo that, instead of being boring, is riveting. If a Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra were ever to be composed, Savage would be an ideal candidate as the soloist. Humor is not forgotten, with two versions of a swinging "Gotta Use the Bathroom." One is instrumental and one is sung by Savage with a voice somewhere in between Joe Williams and Leon Thomas. One of the prime cuts on the album is Savage's woeful saga of "Timothy James" and his many driving violations bemoaning that the "only ticket he doesn't have is the winning lottery ticket." The title tune features the soulful sax of Bob Johnson who, with trombonist Al Bent, does good work throughout the session. Despite its menacing title and cover, Soothes the Savage Beast is almost an hour of well-written compositions engagingly played by a group of musicians who clearly know what they're doing. Recommended. ~ Dave Nathan
As the son of a Baptist minister, Walter Savage's church duties were many. But the one he enjoyed the most was being the church pianist. Walter became interested in bass, however, after seeing and hearing Paul Chambers perform with Miles Davis. He immediately purchased a bass and began lessons with Leroy Vinegar, Al McKibbon and other bassists in the Los Angeles area. He is known mostly as a jazz bassist, however, Walter has proven himself as singer, pianist, and composer as well. His blues pop, rock and jazz vocals are truly distinctive and compelling. From 1963 to ...
