The Proper Authorities is the solo musical project of singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Keith Adams. Known primarily for his drum work with the bands Sound Mind, 1000 Watt Revival, and most recently Giant Wow, Adams created the Proper Authorities to branch out and work on his lifelong compositional and performance skills. As in past groups, he continues to experiment strongly in the modern pop rock genre with sounds and grooves that aren't usually found there. His appreciation for over-the-top arrangements is tempered nicely by his love for good hooks. His lyrics touch on a variety of subjects: matters of self; emotional snapshots in time; tragic and comic figures; and the things that we all want... or at least think that we want.------------------"Among the explosion of 'one-man bands' that technology has made possible, the usual common thread is a lo-fi sound or at the very least an intimate feel. Keith Adams is having none of that. With Public Service Announcement, the veteran of local Techno-Rock faves Sound Mind (and more recently Power Pop trio Giant Wow) has made an album that celebrates the view from his corner of the music world, which is danceable, hard-hitting, eclectic and selectively introspective." -- Ezra Waller, CityBeat Magazine (www.citybeat.com), June 14, 2006------------------AWARDS:7th Annual Great American Song Contestwww.greatamericansong.com"The Ninth Life Jitters" Top 5 in Rock / Alt category13th Annual Billboard World Songwriting Contestwww.billboardsongcontest.com"The Ninth Life Jitters" Honorable Mention (Top 500) Public Service Announcement Music Proper Authorities Public Service Announcement Songs | 1. | The Supermachine Looks Much Bigger On TV |

Public Service Announcement
$10.49 When Layne Staley died from a drug overdose in 2002, it had already been several years since most Alice in Chains fans stopped hoping for a new album. The singer had become a recluse since the late-`90s, and there was little indication that AIC would ever again produce much in the way of new music. As a result, when the remaining members reunited to release BLACK GIVES WAY TO BLUE in 2009, expectations were ...
| | Rosanne Cash List CD (2009)
Public Service Announcement
$15.65 After the dark and chilling themes of 2006's BLACK CADILLAC, which saw Rosanne Cash dealing with the deaths of her mother, Vivian Liberto, her father, Johnny Cash, and her stepmother, June Carter Cash -- all of whom passed within a two-year span -- one might assume that her next project would move into an even deeper level of bleakness, but with THE LIST, it's immediately clear that she has instead found a more measured place to stand. It's a lovely and redemptive outing that looks back to go forward. When Cash turned 18, her father, alarmed that his daughter only knew the songs that were getting played on the radio, gave her a list of what he considered 100 essential American songs; Cash kept ...

Public Service Announcement
$10.15 Whether it's playing to a sold-out crowd at New York City's famous Knitting Factory, or entertaining Angelinos on the Santa Monica Promenade,Akiva's always up for a show. "I once played for group of Italian teenagers on an overnight boat to Greece, they were great!"Akiva got his start playing Counting Crows covers for classmates while studying neurobiology at UMASS. He pushed any ideas of a serious career in music out of his head as he traveled overseas to follow his original dream of becoming a brain surgeon. But one can't deny true passions, and soon Akiva found himself spending more time playing gigs in English Pubs and popping up on local radio than dissecting gray matter.Eventually settling back in New York, Akiva hit the local music scene with more enthusiasm than ever before, bringing his mellow soul to such sought-after venues as The Bitter End and the Tribeca Rock ...

| | Nancie De Ross Rome CD (2003)
Public Service Announcement
$15.15 Rome is an album likely to be stocked with folk or adult contemporary, just because store owners can't figure out where else to place it. Nancie de Ross could fit into either category, and many others, but none would quite fit her style. With a classical voice and minimalist instrumental backup, de Ross taps into a tradition of old folk, updated past the point of contemporary, and makes herself a balladeer. The songs on Rome are perhaps not traditional subjects for ballads; drug addiction, abusive relationships, and the slow decay of time are far removed form old tales of valor and courtly romance. And no one looking for adherence to a rigid structure would ever consider the haiku simplicity of "Lonesome Sky" a ballad. But the spirit of the ballad, of telling a complicated story with its facts in place and its emotion laid bare, infuses Rome with a sophistication far beyond the contemporary.De Ross sings with a fine full voice, sweet and even, so steady that the wildest high notes sound as natural as conversation. But even more, she sings with conviction, a steady belief in the words and feelings of her songs that simultaneously anchors her airy imagery and sends her most mundane moments flying. "Let That Girl Love You" would be a standard, if not tired, song of warning in most singers' mouths. Coming from de Ross, it takes on a loving desperation, rich with the frustration of a friend trying to make the most important of points with simple words. "Angela Anne," a tale of a woman ...
