Combining British pop and rock (Oasis, Ian Brown, Beatles) and American rock 'n roll (White Stripes), Aaron Rose has created a distinctly American sound. Aaron Rose is certainly an Anglophile, and while the influences he states aren't immediately obvious in the music itself, it's far from your typical Texan singer-songwriter fare. 'Goodbye Rosalind' is one of the highlights, with chugging riffs and nice atmospheric keyboards in the background, while 'All I Can Say' is similarly fuzzy-but-pretty. Pangolin Band's music is equal parts rawness and lushness, like a panorama of Australian summer sky seen through a bug-spattered windscreen, on the rushing indolence of a car trip to the beaches.
