The Mike Ryza Trio is a jazz fusion trio lead by Michael Ryza (keyboards) and backed by Jason (bass) and Thomas (drums) of the band Rhythm Signal. Their music is based on classic sonata form including traditional jazz, with elements of progressive jazz and rock. Each song creates an atmosphere or scenario for the listener to discover.Mike describes his influence behind each song.
Cool In Every Situation: This song goes out to all the movie scenes where the "cool" guy gives advice to the "nerdy" guy on how to impress the ladies. Especially, the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High. I literally cracked up when the cool guy talked about the "attitude" and how it sends out this "vibe". I laughed so hard from that movie I had to write a song about that scene.
Blue Paradise: You have just booked the perfect, long awaited vacation of a lifetime only to find yourself looking out the hotel window because it is raining. You are surrounded by paradise, but trapped indoors feeling blue.
Quit Clownin': This song was inspired by the children I teach at school. Picture the ever studious teacher surrounded by 70 kindergarten and 1st grade children that want to clown and act silly. This particular teacher must hide his own sense of humor and be serious long enough to teach class without succumbing to the children's silliness. This "particular teacher" is me.
A Troubled Mind: Imagine trying to sleep after a long stressful day. You find yourself listening to the clock ticking away in the night. All you can do is toss and turn in you bed while dozing in and out of dreams. You wake up exhausted listening to the same clock ticking on the wall while trying to make sense of everything.
Thoughts Of Wintertime: Envision yourself walking on a trail covered with fallen leaves on a cool winter day. The air starts moving and suddenly you're hit by a blast of ice cold wind. the wind blows hundreds of leaves high in the air. You are slowly mesmerized watching the leaves trickle down spinning and wavering in small intricate patterns.
I Told You This Would Happen: Surely we have all been caught in this scenario. You went against the advice of your friends and are now in big trouble. Each friend takes his or her turn saying, "I told you so." You realize you're only human and everyone makes mistakes but are still embarrassed about the whole thing.
Tropical Deception: Imagine sailing on a boat in a beautiful sea. The forecast is perfect and the water is clear and calm. Suddenly you sense a change in the air and a storm approaches out of nowhere. Your fear sets in and you prepare for a rough ride. Just when you think disaster is coming, the storm blows over and serenity returns.
Where Do I Fit: What if a puzzle piece could talk? What would it say as it searches for where it belongs? I am sure we have all wondered at times, "Where do I fit in society?" I say just be yourself and have fun. The right place will present itself soon enough.
Worried ...
