| | Kathy Corliss Appletree CD Kathy Corliss Discography of CDs
In 2002 Kathy Corliss released her debut album entitled Appletree. Shortly thereafter she was diagnosed with leukemia which cut her life and budding songwriting career short. Kathy left us with some incredible music which intensely reflects the human experience. From driving melodic rock to the title song Appletree which show her jazz influences, the album crosses over brilliantly. Her beautiful, sometimes haunting alto vocals and soulful music weave a story told in the poetic lyrics of this incredible album. Kathy wrote five more insightfully beautiful songs which have not yet been released. "Appletree is a legacy of love and tenderness. We may never know how brightly Corliss' star might have shone, but it did glimmer for a short while and will stay radiant in the hearts of the people who loved her." Lora Abcarian of the Bailey Flame. "Hypnotic moody pop in the Cowboy Junkies/KD Lang genre. Jeez - this song is at least 3db hotter than any song on GB.com - is Butch Vig in the band? Nice mood established. The vocalist makes this song - can't imagine the song without her. The changes at the end are kind of different, like a second middle-8 section that never gets back to the chorus or verse. Lyrics and delivery are on point with the subject matter - well composed, thoughtful lyrics. 1 - Backing Vocals - Terrific. 2 - Lead Vocals - Effective, evocative. You can tell she can re-create her performance live. 3 - Guitars - I like how the guitar resolves to a complimentary melody to the chorus. Playing is quite tasty." Appletree
$11.18 Continuing his stroll through pop's backpages, Rod Stewart moves on from "The Great Rock Classics of Our Time" and dives into the SOULBOOK, shorthand for all the great Motown and soul songs that still are in heavy rotation on oldies radio well into the new millennium. Rod doesn't spend much time with the soul and blues singers so influential on him, choosing instead to run ...
| | Rammstein Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da CDs (2009) Bonus Tracks; Deluxe Edition; Digipak
Appletree
$17.58 Anyone familiar with the industrial-metal band's dark sense of irony should take one look at the title of Rammstein's 2009 album LIEBE IST FUR ALLE DA ("Love Is There For Everyone") and conclude that this one is a mean monster. Combining the tightness and punch of their 1998 album SEHNSUCHT with the musicianship and elaborate textures of their later work, LIEBE IST is a grand achievement, skillfully dividing its time between razor sharp metal rockers like "B********" or the opening theme song "Rammlied" and nostalgic, cabaret pieces that conjure the spirits of Weil and Brecht at a goth club. Best of the latter is the naked and haunting closer "Roter Sand" but little touches of a sinister yesteryear are everywhere, like the fake vaudeville music in "Haifisch" or the soundtrack strings of "Wiener Blut" which are eventually ...

| | Beatles: Stereo Box Set CDs (2009) Bonus DVD; Limited Edition; Remastered; Box Set
Appletree
$248.19 The Beatles always stood apart from their peers, a self-evident statement that sadly extended to the treatment of their catalog in the digital age. Where all their contemporaries from the Byrds to the Who have had their catalogs remastered and reissued in deluxe editions, sometimes several times, the Beatles remained stuck in the early days of digital, their 14 albums plus PAST MASTERS singles collections remaining untouched since 1987. The 2009 reissue campaign corrects almost all the problems of the original 1987 CDs: the sound and artwork are improved, and all the original mono and stereo mixes finally see the light of day. Naturally, it's possible to quibble about some details of the presentation, particularly the decision to split the reissue into two separate box sets, one covering the stereo mixes and one the mono mixes, with only the stereo mixes available as individual discs but both boxes still constitute the best Beatles by far. Crucially, it's also inarguably the best-sounding Beatles music ever released, robust and rich even ...

| | Swingadelic Another Monday Night CD (2007)
Appletree
$16.45 Another Monday Night is the fourth CD release by Swingadelic, a fun and entertaining New York metro area “Little Big Band”. These sessions came as the result of the band’s Monday night performances at Maxwell’s in Hoboken NJ. All but one tracks are original compositions and arrangements by various band members. The stand out is Ellington’s “The Gal From Joe’s” that Swingadelic recorded for the soundtrack of “Play It By Ear”, a movie starring Michele Hurd and Rita Moreno. Bandleader and upright bassist Dave Post has assembled a first-rate, diverse and talented crew that sound like they are having a good time and communicate that feeling and spirit to the listener. The band features the talents of alto/tenor sax player Buddy Terry, veteran of the Ray Charles and Count Basie Orchestras, as well as the bands of Horace Silver and Art Blakey.Swingadelic has performed at Lincoln Center, NJPAC and the NYC BBQ, regional jazz & blues festivals and dances and concerts from Boston to Atlanta. Their previous three CD releases have received worldwide play and all titles can be purchased through www.CD.Baby.com. The band has appeared on several TV shows and music from Swingadelic has been featured in two films. The band maintains a web site at www.Swingadelic.com “The strength of the orchestra is in the combined big band sound that shows plenty of muscle or sensitivity depending upon the situation. Swingadelic is a modern day representation ...
