Anatomic's eleven song CD features appealing hooks, big vocal harmonies, and high-powered guitar work all brought together through top-notchsongwriting. The band is composed of Ryan Freeman, lead vocals and acoustic/electric guitars, Johnny Rowland, vocals, lead and rythmn acoustic and electric guitars, J.J. Goncz, vocals and bass guitar, and Jason Michael Eldredge, drums and percussion. The disc was recorded at Suspect Studios in Sunnyvale, CA and was co-produced by Anatomic and Dave Gakle. Anatomic is a reformed version of long-time SF Bay Area favorite Shy Tiger, and retains the melodic hard rock style and high-energy delivery that made Shy Tiger so popular in the Bay Area club scene."In For the Thrill" is the follow-up to Shy Tiger's last release, entitled "Feed the Kitty", which was also a Suspect Recordings release. That disc received regional accolades which earned the band opening slots for Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, Y & T, Ace Frehley, as well as other headliners. After taking time off to write and rehearse new material, the band is back with a new name, and a new aggressive attitude that is sure to win them more new fans. Anatomic is currently showcasing these tunes, as well as new material, at clubs in the Sacramento, SF Bay and Los Angeles areas. One of America's most unique folksingers and backcountry travelers, Walkin' Jim Stoltz, sings his songs with a definite sense of having been there. Indeed, he has. It all began innocently enough, walking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. Then, after a year and a half spent walking from the Atlantic to the Pacific, folks just naturally started referring to him as "Walkin' Jim". What followed were years of annual long walks across the remaining wildlands of America including three different treks from Mexico to Canada and a Yellowstone to Yukon hike. It all adds up to well over 27,000 miles and dozens of songs, stories and photographs. Jim often carries a guitar and writes his songs as he walks through the wild places. His lyrics express a great love and respect for the Earth and the wilderness he knows so well. Known for his powerful baritone and emotion-packed vocals, he also spends part of each year touring (driving) across America, performing his award-winning concert, Forever Wild. The show combines live music and poetry with stunning, multi-image slides. The mix of photographs and music results in a stirring celebration of wilderness. With the constant praise for "Forever Wild" came requests for a similar multi-media show for children. Jim began performing for elementary schools in the mid-80's. In 1990 he produced his first recording of kid's music, "A Kid For The Wild". The recording has been a big hit with environmental educators and has been an important part of the National Forest Service's "Wilderness Box" program. If she’d lived in the New Orleans red-light district in a previous era, she would have been the most popular white girl in Storyville. Her specialty is hot-foot barrelhouse and wrist-slashing blues, which she wails like nobody’s business, and her fans lap it up like howling hound dogs, hungry for more. I always liked her raucous style, but I never expected to hear standards from the Great American Song Book in her repertoire. On this, the very best act of her career, she’s finally discovered classics by Kern, Hart, and Johnny Mercer, too. And I’m happy to report that her lived-in baritone gives them a personal spin as unique as it is intense. On “Make Believe”, she phrases behind the beat. On “Some Enchanted Evening” there’s no beat at all. She doesn’t even follow Richard Rodgers’ melody. But she makes you feel the subtext of the emotions hiding in Oscar Hammerstein’s lyrics. She sings a Harold Arlen song about a reefer man, a Leslie Bricusse-Anthony Newley song about a candy man, and a Lieber-Stoller song about a “Love Potion Number 9” with equal grit and aplomb. She also tells about her own 12-step program to overcome a fatal addicton to--- frozen hot chocolates at Serendipity. Simply hilarious. Then, without a bathroom break, she wafts dreamily into a rapturous “Fools Rush In” heartbreaking enough to knock your socks off. The best way to appreciate her unusual musical candor is to stop resisting her and give in. Baby Jane just kind of overwhelms you.
