Nuestro Amor album
$12.05 NADIE COMO TU won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Tejano Album.
Solido follows its first 2001 Grammy-nominated effort with this entry in the Grammy stakes, an accomplished collection of impeccably arranged Norteno songs. The title track is an up-tempo ballad, while "Nada Me Explique Mas" is a more stately but no less percussive affair, complete with the band's trademark tight harmonies.

Nuestro Amor music CDs
$13.59 DIEZ marks the 10th anniversary of the band in an intriguing manner, presenting an album of all-new material alongside another disc of mostly older songs covered by others in a pop/rock vein. The disc by Intocable features the elevated fare fans have become accustomed to, including the sublimely beautiful sweet "Soledad (Siento Morir)" and catchy single "Aire." The bonus disc includes a breathy version of "Fuerte No Soy" by Pepe Aguilar, as well as harder-edged renditions, including Volovan's version of "Ya Ves." Overall, DIEZ is a fascinating set from one of the most unpredictable bands in the Tejano vein.

| | 20 Classic Jerry Lee Lewis Hits CD (1986)
Nuestro Amor songs
$11.39 Jerry Lee's distinctive version of Ray Price's 'Crazy Arms' was his Sun debut, but it was his second single, a revival of Roy Hall's 'Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On' in 1957 that propelled him to international fame. The record, which was initially banned as obscene, narrowly missed the top of the US chart. He stole the show from many other stars in the film Jamboree in which he sang the classic 'Great Balls Of Fire'. He kept up the barrage of rowdy and unadulterated rock with 'Breathless', which, like its predecessor, had been written by Otis Blackwell. He arrived in Britain for a tour in 1958, accompanied by his third wife, Myra, who was also his 13-year-old second cousin. The tour had to be cancelled after only three concerts. The furor followed Lewis home and support for him in his homeland also waned. His last big hit of the 50s was the title song from his film High School Confidential. After a decade playing rock 'n' roll, Lewis decided to concentrate on ...
| | Freddie Hubbard Body & The Soul CD (1963)
Nuestro Amor album
$12.69 Digitally remastered by Erick Labson (MCA Music Media Studios).
1963's THE BODY & THE SOUL finds a 25-year-old Freddie Hubbard commanding three different ensembles. The first ensemble is a stellar septet that features the sublime Eric Dolphy on alto saxophone and flute and Hubbard's frequent collaborator, Wayne Shorter on tenor saxophone. One highlight is a gentle and memorable rendition of the classic "Body and Soul," with Hubbard's improvisations sliding closely around the well-loved melody. Dolphy's ethereal flute provides a parenthetical introduction and coda. Where the septet shows Hubbard in familiar light, the larger ensembles show evidence of his young talent ready to blossom.
For the second and third ensembles, Shorter is back, serving as conductor and arranger and expanding into big-band and string arrangements. Though it would seem that such a lineup might heavily favor avant-garde experimentalism, two older standards, "Skylark," by Hoagy Charmichael, and "I Got It Bad (And That Ain't Good)," by Duke Ellington, are given reverential treatments. Hubbard's playing is sensuous and articulate throughout. THE BODY & THE SOUL features two of the most formidable players and composers of '60s and '70s jazz expanding into new territory, all the while holding true to the music's rich history.

| | Albert Ayler Spirits Rejoice CD (1965)
Nuestro Amor music CDs
$13.25 1965's SPIRITS REJOICE, a high-energy performance recorded live at New York's Judson Hall, perfectly captures Albert Ayler's signature sound of this era. Like the earlier BELLS, the album blurs the line between composition and improvisation. The various horn players imitate each other's phrases and veer off into a cacophonous celebration, only to eventually return to the melody.
Ayler used two bass players for this date, Gary Peacock and Henry Grimes, and the collaboration especially shines during "D.C." The performance also features Ayler's brother Donald (trumpet), Sunny Murray (drums), Charles Tyler (alto saxophone), and Call Cobs (harpsichord on "Angels," one of Ayler's ballads). While the fidelity of this recording is not the finest, the playing is remarkable. Songs such as "Holy Family" foreshadow the New Orleans/marching-band influence evident on ALBERT AYLER LIVE IN GREENWICH VILLAGE. ...
