"LULLABIES" compiles the best of Weinstone's more subtle, quieter and often most poignant songs. This CD sparkles and shines, and remarkably avoids the sappy-sugary fair of more traditional children's lullabies. David Weinstone created Music for Aardvarks and Other Mammals in reaction to the dearth of cool kid's music available. He recorded ten original songs. In an exhilarating range of musical styles executed with superb musical literacy and richness of instrumentation, his songs reflected and celebrated the lives of children growing up in urban environments as well as themes universal to all children. His music immediately hit a nerve with children. and parents were thrilled to find something new that they themselves loved. Bootleg copies of MFA music circulated around Manhattan and within a few weeks the word was out that something completely fresh and original was swimming upstream against the tide of "hop-along-bunny" songs that inundate the children's music genre. Weinstone's music has attracted astonishing praise from the press and has made its way into the hearts of children and parents alike both nationally and around the world. MFA is free-spirited and unpredictable. No renditions of Itsy Bitsy Spider or I'm a Little Teapot here. Thank you!

Lullabies album
$14.19 The fourth of four CD reissues taken from Art Pepper's three nights at the Village Vanguard in July 1977, as with the other releases, adds one selection ("Scrapple from the Apple") to the music of the original LP; all of the performances on this and the other sets have since been made available as part of a massive nine-CD box set. The great altoist was clearly excited to be playing at the famous New York club, and his rhythm section -- pianist George Cables, bassist George Mraz and drummer Elvin Jones -- consistently stimulates his imagination. This release has more variety than usual, for in addition to his alto playing (including a memorable unaccompanied solo on "Over the Rainbow"), Pepper switches to clarinet for the lengthy "More for Les" and interprets the ballad "These Foolish Things" on tenor. The nine-CD set is essential for Art Pepper fanatics, but those just wanting a taste of the ...

$6.15 Best known for her omnipresent radio hits "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?" and "I Don't Want To Wait" (the theme to the popular teen TV drama DAWSON'S CREEK), New England-based singer-songwriter Paula Cole released three albums in the last half of the 1990s, and their finest moments are neatly anthologized on this 16-track compilation. A link between the autobiographical starkness of Aimee Mann and Tori Amos and the more overtly pop-oriented sounds of Jewel or Sheryl Crow, Cole's mature and thoughtful pop was always confident and never strayed into adult-contemporary blandness.

$9.99 Is it a coincidence if the name of MIRAGE, a French current Progressive rock band, is also the one of one of the most famous albums of CAMEL ? Some serious clues were already given in their first opus "A Secret Place", released in 2001 under the Musea label. If that was still not enough, "Tales From The Green Sofa" (2004) ...
