On its third full-length album, PHOBIA, the Pennsylvania-based heavy-rock act Breaking Benjamin offers up another potent round of moody, riff-laden tunes. While "The Diary of Jane" revels in sheer ferocity and recalls Bush, the emotive "Breath" carries echoes of early Tool, revealing that the ensemble is intent on staying true to its 1990s alt-metal forebears. Although these influences place the group, led by emotive vocalist Ben Burnley, in the company of Nickelback and Godsmack, Breaking Benjamin distinguishes itself with a sense of earnestness and a knack for melody matched by few of its peers. While fans of the band will undoubtedly embrace PHOBIA, the consistently engaging release may also win Breaking Benjamin a new set of admirers as well.

I had been waiting for this CD to come out for a while now, but it was definitely worth the wait!! I'm deployed in Iraq, so nothing is better than hearing new music from the states. And to find out that it also had the acoustic version of "The Diary of Jane" just made it even better. Thanks for getting to me as fast as you did too!!!

BETTER THAN DECENT
TRY AWESOME CD. MAYBE THATS THE GUYS OPINION BELOW AND HE HAS HIS RIGHT TO IT BUT NOT UNTIL YOU LET ALL THESE AWESOME SONGS GROW ON YOU. "DIARY OF JANE' OOZES COOLNESS AND POWER WITH IT BEING THE BEST SONG OVER ALL TO ME ON THE CD. "BREATHE" AND "YOU" AND "UNKNOWN SOLDIER" ARE JUST MORE OF THE COOL SONGS THAT ARE A VERY CLOSE SECOND. THE ALBUM JUST ROCKS. THESE GUYS/GROUP REMINDS ME A LOT OF ROB ZOMBIE ALMOST BECAUSE THEIR AWESOME SONGS ARE SO GOOD EVERYTHING THEY PUT OUT FROM THIS ALBUM/CD TO THEIR LAST TWO OR THREE CDS COULD BE PUT IN SOME MOVIE AND VIDEO GAMES AND TV SHOWS WHICH THEY HAVE BEFORE. ROCK ON BREAKING BENJAMIN !!! THIS CD DEFINITEY STANDS OUT!!!

I believe that this is one of their greatest albums. Full of anger and passion, this is a spectacular brekathrough in music. Ben sounds positively angelic with strength, and the music is mesmerising.

It's a testament to the conviction of Breaking Benjamin that two of its members quit another band already signed to a major label to join what was, commercially, much less of a sure thing. SATURATE's success proved them right, though. A melting pot of post-grunge riffs, nu-metal power, and classic rock accessibility, Breaking Benjamin offers something for hard rock fans of all stripes. Melodic choruses and signature riffs rub shoulders with screeching, from-the-gut vocals and amps-on-11 guitar firestorms. By paying homage to all their influences simultaneously, the band seems to have come up with a hard-hitting sound whose whole is greater than the sum of its already-impressive parts on BB's chart-bound debut album SATURATE.
