A spectacular 3CD set with 39 titles in all, selected by French tastemaker Claude Challe's brother and accomplice, Jean Marc Challe, who has worked with extensive with Claude on several of his projects. It's an extremely juicy musical cocktail of surprising, elegant flavours with explosive little gems & true pearls, skillfully concocted and deliciously eclectic. Includes 3 hours of great music with a dream playlist. CD 1-Just Chill has warm, sensual notes, strong emotions, especially with a Billie Holiday remix, " Parole, Parole" by Mina and the ever reliable Alkemx, for a soothing mix. CD2-Just Vibe has lyrical flights & astonishing fusions, especially with rock vibes by Unkle, Bossa's cover of The Rolling Stones' "Sympathy For The Devil" and a symphonic touch with "Mozart the Egyptian" for a totally startling mix. CD3-Just Dance has entrancing percussions, intoxicating rhythms, featuring Jesse Cook, Sydenham & Ferrer and Octave One for a torrid mix.

Dead Can Dance's TOWARD THE WITHIN is a live album, but don't let that persuade you not to buy it. Most of the tracks here (11 of 15) are not on any of the group's studio records, and all of them are flat-out spectacular. This is one of the band's best albums, live or otherwise.

On the evidence of this, the band's first record, Dead Can Dance can clearly be seen as a "Goth" group in the vein of Bauhaus, et al. The band's sound here is much more clearly based in the "contemporary"--Dead Can Dance uses traditional song structures, the group's instrumentation is almost entirely synthesized, and co-vocalist Lisa Gerrard's voice rarely gets into the truly ethereal, other-worldly realms that it would on later albums. Perhaps the most surprising single song on the album is "East of Eden." Built on a picked (and heavily echoed) guitar line and a rolling drum pattern, it is probably the only track in the DCD catalogue that can be described as relentlessly perky.
