(3 Customer Reviews)
This hefty double album often sounds more like a compilation than a coherent whole, with musical ideas bouncing frantically back and forth. Nevertheless, in typical Cure style, KISS ME, KISS ME, KISS ME successfully combines catchy pop with bitter despair. Through 17 immensely sensual songs, Robert Smith is at his most poetic ("strange as angels, dancing in the deepest ocean, twisting in the water, you're just like a dream") and vitriolic ("get your fucking voice out of my head...I never wanted any of this, I wish you were dead"). The joyous pop of "Just Like Heaven" and "The Perfect Girl" still delights, and the frisson provided by "Shiver And Shake" reinforces the physical nature of this collection.

Uncut (p.102) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "Glossy, even sexy, here the excesses of that decade finally caught up with Smith, which he twisted into stunning pop..." Alternative Press (p.200) - "[With] the heartfelt 'Just Like Heaven,' one of the classic alt-rock singles of the 1980s." Magnet (p.106) - "Smith pens the prettiest pop, unleashes seven minutes of sitar-driven stonerdom, uses accordions to punctuate Parisian travelogues, plays with psychedelic Hendrixian guitar textures and -- as always -- lets bassist Simon Gallup have all the best riffs and melodies." | Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me: Deluxe Edition Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) Pure quality. This was the first album by The Cure that I ever bought when it was released in 1987, which also happens to be the same year I saw them live on tour- they were such an inspiration to me then, and listening to this album again in its remastered glory it sounds even better than back then. No one makes albums like this anymore, this is pure quality music that bands of today can only imagine making. Submitted by Karl (Bath) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Nice to have it all on one disc finally! Finally, many years after the fact, it is nice to have KMKMKM on a single disc. The bonus CD is a treat, but it is probably the most lackluster of the current reissues. Alot of demo instrumentals and boot quality live tracks from the era. But for the hardcore Cure fan, this is a must have... casual fans wait for the single disc reissue. Submitted by Shane (Philadelphia, PA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Thats All I Want! From now until the end of time...
The Cure are the greatest band ever.
This digitally remastered recording of KM3 is perfect and I love it. If you are reading this review then you are either interested or considering purchasing it, and for that my friend, I applaude you. You are ok in my book.
Remember this. The Cure are my band. They make music for ME. If you like them too, then I will recommend you buy a COPY of their cd's. Remember this. You will be buying a copy. I have the original recordings. Submitted by Jim (Atlanta, Ga.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me: Deluxe Edition
$11.99 Package includes THREE IMAGINARY BOYS (1979) and RARITIES 1977-1979.
The 2004 US release of THREE IMAGINARY BOYS was a momentous event for stateside Cure fans, as it marked the first time the band's 1979 debut album had ever been available on CD in America. Equally enticing is the bonus disc containing '77-'79 demos, live tracks, and other rarities. The Cure's first US release was 1980's BOYS DON'T CRY, which replaced a number of TIB's tracks with previously non-LP singles, presenting a significantly different ...

Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me: Deluxe Edition
$12.15 Within the space of two short years the Cure mysteriously transformed themselves from a more accessible Wire/Buzzcocks hybrid into the grandiose-haired gloom merchants they resembled for decades. While the international success of singles like "Boys Don't Cry" might have pointed to a continuation of the same formula, Smith decided to take the band into choppier waters. SEVENTEEN SECONDS marked the start of the Cure Phase II. Somewhat reminiscent of bands like Siouxsie & the Banshees (a group Smith played with for a few albums), SEVENTEEN SECONDS is not an album for the faint at heart.
The addition of perennial favorite ...

For a band that's known worldwide as the premier purveyors of goth-rock gloom and doom (though hardly incapable of sparkling pop gems), it's no small thing to identify a particular album as their darkest, most disturbing sonic statement. Nevertheless, PORNOGRAPHY surely fills the bill. Reportedly created during a time of great psychological upheaval for group leader Robert Smith, it's a gloriously no-holds-barred existential angst-fest, from the very first line, "It doesn't matter if we all die." Not since ...

If you ever observed (or were) a pale depressed-looking teenager dressed entirely in black, sitting in the corner scribbling frantically into a marble bound notebook, then you already understand the Cure. In the 1980s, the Cure provided the soundtrack for an entire generation of misfit toys, and if SEVENTEEN SECONDS was a wake-up call for the dispossessed, FAITH is the daily affirmation. Scaled back down to a three-piece with the loss of keyboardist Hartley, the Cure is a lean, mean fighting machine, ready to rumble.
"Rumble" ...
