Sink Like A Symphony album
$15.18 MONUMENTS & MELODIES is an elliptical allusion to the hits and highlights contained within this 2009 retrospective, a double-disc set that's separated into a CD of singles and a CD of rarities. The first disc does its job efficiently, running through all but two of Incubus' Billboard hits--the minor mainstream rock radio hits "Circles" and "Make a Move" are missing, but the non-charting single "Are You In?" is in its place--bookended by two strong new Brendan O'Brien productions, "Black Heart Inertia" and "Midnight Swim." The second disc is devoted primarily to B-sides and other stray non-LP tracks, including an acoustic version of "A Certain Shade of Green," a remix of "Pantomime," and a ham-fisted cover of Prince's "Let's Go Crazy," where they get the riff ...
| | Best Of The Moody Blues CD (1996)
Sink Like A Symphony CD music
$12.65 THE BEST OF THE MOODY BLUES contains vintage photographs and a conversation with Justin Hayward.
Recorded between 1964 and 1988. Includes liner notes by John Reed.
By keeping it simple and sticking to the hits, this collection successfully relates the story of this pioneering band. The Moody Blues began as a Gerry & the Pacemakers-like, R&B-influenced band fronted by sad-voiced singer Denny Laine, who is heard here on "Go Now." Laine was replaced by Justin Hayward, keyboardist Mike Pinder brought ...

| | Axel Rudi Pell Best Of-Anniversary Edition CD (2009) Anniversary Edition
Sink Like A Symphony CD music
$9.64 For many rock historians, the 1980s officially ended when Nirvana and Pearl Jam were burning up the charts in 1991 and 1992 and major labels started signing alternative rock acts left and right. For some rockers, however, the 1980s never ended--and German guitarist/songwriter Axel Rudi Pell's unwavering commitment to pre-'90s-style metal and hard rock is evident throughout BEST OF AXEL RUDI PELL: ANNIVERSARY EDITION. This 79-minute CD spotlights previously released material from Pell's Johnny Gioeli era; Pell hired Gioeli as his vocalist in 1998, and Gioeli received such a favorable response that Pell was still using him 11 years later in 2009. Although Pell's own songs dominate BEST OF AXEL RUDI PELL, this collection also contains two covers from 2007's DIAMONDS UNLOCKED: Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" and U2's 2000 hit "Beautiful Day," both of which become more hard-rocking in Pell's hands. Although hardly the last word on Pell's solo output of the 1990s and 2000s, BEST OF AXEL RUDI PELL is enthusiastically recommended to casual listeners.
Pell's career began in 1980 with the band, Steeler, who sold over 30,000 copies of their commercially most successful release, Strike Back, and brought out their fourth and final album, Undercover Animal, in 1988. In November of that same year, Pell formed his own group together with J”rg Deisinger (ex-Bonfire), drummer J”rg Michael, bassist ...

Sink Like A Symphony album
$16.45 Jay Wilder is a guitar player. He writes for his instrument and brings in any other elements needed to get the right sound. He's a balanced player, tastefully inclined, and drawn most to melody and making sure all the parts work together. Music is certainly an area to challenge yourself, and that's the kind of player he is, whether it be by taking in diverse styles or bringing in new instruments to write for. In this case, he uses traditional Americana as a starting point, bridges in blues, jazz, and country, with some creedance to classical music. Each track was thought of ...
