A full two decades into their career, prolific Polish death metal act Vader remain near the top of their game on the searing Impressions in Blood. With the energy of bands half their age, Vader flirt with speedier tempos than their usual on tracks like "Shadows Fear" and "As Heavens Collide...." Singer Piotr Wiwczarek is one of the few death metal vocalists whose guttural bark of a voice brings up no involuntary associations with the Cookie Monster, and on the album's centerpiece track, his growling vocals mesh perfectly with a riff of epic sludginess that sounds like vintage Black Sabbath played at 16 rpm. There are some changes afoot here, including an increasingly obvious use of drum machines (the coda of "Field of Heads" is nothing but an industrial-sounding drum loop slowly decaying) along with some Mellotron-like string synthesizers amidst the guitars, but overall, Impressions in Blood is, in the best sense, more of the same. ~ Stewart MasonKerrang (Magazine) (p.47) - "This is plainly the strongest bunch of songs Vader have written since 1995's DE PROFUNDIS..." | Impressions In Blood Music Impressions In Blood Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Killer death metal Vader shows the world how death metal should be done. This album is a example of perfection from start to finish. If you like death metal then look no further. Submitted by Jer (Canton,OH,USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 2 found this helpful.
Speed and power to you. God, what an album! Brutal and enjoyable. I've never heard anything like Vader before. They seem to be the sum of all things metal, and this album is the sum of their work. Vader are what Slayer wishes they were. There is an exquisite combination of brutal speedy death predicated by extreme technical brilliance. It's like thrash and death metal have combined to form a more perfect union of darkness. Vader lives up to their namesake. The opening song, "ShadowFear", gets you going in a rush and the album never lets up.
In your rush to find great metal, please, for your own sake, don't overlook this brilliant metal gem. I'll definitely buy some more from this group. The previous 4 albums to this one are already on order. C'mon, c'mon, clear payment already and get shipped! Submitted by ceffalo (somewhere, usa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Vader is the Best Metal Band Ive heard all of Vaders previous albums, because this band kicks ass, but this recent album has got to be their best so far. All of These songs are cool, but my favorites are Shadow Fear and As Heavens Collide... Buy this album, it is worth it. Also listen to Litany, which is their second best album. | | Decapitated Organic Hallucinosis CD (2006)
Impressions In Blood songs
$13.29 With the departure of their founding vocalist -- the heartwarmingly named Sauron -- the remaining members of Polish death metal veterans Decapitated have apparently decided to mark the installment of his successor, Covan, with a wholesale change of direction for their fourth studio album, Organic Hallucinosis. Launching off of their new frontman's more versatile skills in delivering various stages of deathly grunting, the band has stepped up the complexity of their songwriting to match, while establishing a non-traditional death metal aesthetic somewhere between the lopsided time signatures of Meshuggah and down-tuned power grooves of Pantera. And even though the exceedingly challenging results don't usually make for ideal moshpit conditions, intellectual onslaughts like "A Poem About an Old Prison Man," "Day 69" and "Flash-B(l)ack," do promise hours of gradual interpretation for those inclined towards thinking man's extreme metal. They also lack nothing in terms of intensity or brutality, only rarely exposing even the remotest traces of melody (see "Invisible Control") or turning down the volume for haunting, quieter passages ("Visual Delusion"). All of these new developments undoubtedly constrict ...
| | Deicide Stench Of Redemption CD (2006)
Impressions In Blood album
$13.85 Despite being one of the longest-running death metal/black metal bands from the U.S., Deicide had a bit of a hurdle in front of them before working on their eighth studio album, 2006's The Stench of Redemption -- founding members Eric and Brian Hoffman had exited the band. But growler/bassist Glen Benton soldiered on with a pair of quite accomplished replacements -- Jack Owen (ex-Cannibal Corpse) and Ralph Santolla ...
| | Amon Amarth With Oden On Our Side CD (2006) Bonus CD; Digipak
Impressions In Blood CD music
$10.89 Death metal with some melody? Can it be? As evidenced by Amon Amarth's 2006 release, With Odin on Our Side, this dream seems to be a reality early on. On the album opening "Valhall Awaits Me," singer Johan Hegg's vocal lines aren't merely growled syllables. But don't be worried, longtime Amarth fans, it's not like the Swedish outfit has enlisted ...

| | Per Mission Ritual Loop CD (2001)
Impressions In Blood songs
$13.05 With soothing lyrical twists and breathtaking instrumental work, Per Mission comes forth with an honestly mature sophomore release entitled A Ritual Loop. Like its title, the record bursts forth with songs that loop and spin in melodic point and counterpoint to bring complex structures and percussive textures to the forefront. Perhaps the goal of this fine electronic indie rock ensemble was to find a spectacular way to escape from the bandmembers' musically chained barriers and stretch their boundaries. They certainly provide the listener with some music only explored in fresh new territory, revitalizing both the listener and band alike in a call-and-response form. Jason Noble sings with full resonance on the mike, with the support of Rachel Grimes at the instrumental ...
| | Demericious One CD (2005)
Impressions In Blood album
$8.89 By glancing at the picture of its band members in the CD case, you'd think that Demiricous would be a boogie/blues band, judging from their appearance and the fact that they're kicking back a few brews at a bar. But once the little laser light hits track one of their debut CD, One, the sweet and soothing sounds of Slayer take your head clean off. The Indianapolis, Indiana natives work with the same musical ingredients as Tom Araya and company -- galloping rhythms, repetitive riffs, fast tempos, and screamed vocals. Produced by a gentleman who should be no stranger to Hatebreed and Shadows Fall fans, Zeuss, One is a must-hear for fans of extreme thrash/death metal. Like other bands of their ilk, it may be all "samey sounding" to new listeners, but for those who are on their third copy of Reign in Blood, One may be the best debut to come along in ages. It's ...
