(37 Customer Reviews)
Sidestepping the glam and thrash obsessions of their peers, Dream Theater updates Rush's blueprint with a modern texture. The progressive metal touchstones are all here: changing time signatures, dizzyingly complicated tablature, tonsil-snapping lead vocals, lyrical bombast, and a healthy sense of self-importance. John Petrucci and Co. deftly combine all of these elements on SCORE: 20th ANNIVERSARY WORLD TOUR LIVE WITH THE OCTAVARIUM ORCHESTRA, their fourth (!) live record since 2001. While SCORE might not be the best start for neophytes, the three-disc opus will sate the appetites of serious devotees.
2006 commemoration of the group's 20th Anniversary World Tour on 3CD's, recorded live at Radio City Music Hall on April Fool's Day, 2006 with The Octavarium Orchestra. Almost 3 full hours of material is included and half is performed with the full orchestra. Performance highlights include "I Walk Beside You" and "The Answer Lies Within" plus the previously unreleased songs "Another Won" and "Raise The Knife". The set also features the eight-movement "Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence" and the sweeping "Octavarium" multi-arc segment.

DT @ RCMH NYC 4-1-06 I just finished reading all the available reviews and I agree, in part, with nearly all them. It was an outstanding show (I was there) and the second half after the intermission was like nothing I'd ever seen and not for nothing, but I've been fortunate to see the best. Pink Floyd Animals tour, the Who at Madison Square Garden in '79, Yes in the round in '78, DT and Fates Warning at Kahunaville in Delaware in '03. Some of the song selections I am dismayed with and that's why I dropped a star. Still, all in all, great show, great band, and I can't wait to see the DVD. STUNNING!!! Dream Theater may be one of the most talented bands in history and this latest concert on CD definitley proves it. Having been at Radio City that memorable night, this is as close to re-living that night as you can get. Submitted by ANTHONY (ROCKLAND, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A geat video!! I stumbled upon this band's works some time ago and glad I did. These guys are truely great musicians. The video has great videography. I am a little curious as to why "Pull Me Under" never made it in the concert or at least this video. "Another Won" rocks!! I found tracts of this DVD online and risked the purchase. I thought the orchestra was a great addition to the music and disagree with the previous comments. I love it when bands incorporate archestral accompanyment. This DVD does not disapoint. very good i'm a DT fan, and...what can i say.
everything was alright, the orchestra sometimes was out of the tempo but whatever.
mmmhhh....james labrie voice? what can i say, he did very well, i like his voice very much, in some songs i don't like his voice like "take the time" but if i think about...change james for another singer...who would be? seriosly..i think james it's in the band beacuse he is like perfect for that band.
it would sound good DT with the voice of the singer of evergrey? of Pain of salvation? of kamelot?maybe of kamelot, of symphony x? magnitued9?NO!i don't think so!
each memeber of the band it's very good and do well in his job.
some said that a concert it's like always...the people sitting..see it, y say it's bored because there it's nor movement..and..if you go to a DT concert.......it's not about go a move like crazy...it's go to sit and seeit because what they do others bands can't do it! a concert of them it;s for go an see what they do...beacuse it's increible.
this DVD is pretty good, they did weel, the setlist...well i like it but not of my favorites songs are there.
i think...this band..it's very good and they do all for us...for the fans!
just...try to see the good things of this band....then see the bad things, and i think the good things it's more than the bad things.
if james it's in the band...if because his voice it;s perfect for this band and if he isn't the voice for this band...what do you think he is in the band?why do you think dt don't look for another vocalist?
just...see this DVD think about the band, and you'll see it! Submitted by tge125 (miami, FL, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
