The cult metal band's third major label album is a significant step forward in style and execution, with singer Randy Blythe's forceful vocals at their most guttural and drummer Chris Adler expertly steering the band through a dizzying variety ... Full Descriptionof complex arrangements. The album's opener, "Walk With Me in Hell" sets the stage for a collection of dark, hyper-energized tracks, with the violent, rhythmically complex "Redneck" a particular highlight.
Lamb Of God: Randy Blythe (vocals); Morton Mark, Willie Adler (guitar); John Campbell (bass guitar); Chris Adler (drums).
Rolling Stone (p.133) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[F]ull of open-string chugging, relentlessly forceful drumming and Randy Blythe's bear-in-a-trap roar." Spin (p.103) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "Mark Morton and Willie Adler's dual guitars lock up furiously....Adler's brother Chris is a wonder, tapping out blast after staggeringly fast double kick-drum blast." Entertainment Weekly (p.81) - "[With] frenetic and intricate tracks....[and] D. Randall Blythe's enraged, rottweiler-like vocals." -- Grade: B CMJ (p.26) - "This quintet erects an impenetrable wall of metal with the Dimebag Darrell-influenced riffs of Mark Morton and Willie Adler..." Kerrang (Magazine) (p.68) - Ranked #9 in Kerrang's "20 Greatest Albums of 2006" -- "Classic metal, in every sense." Sacrament album
$11.59 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer Wine."
Somewhat more mysteriously, Rolling Stone Ron Wood also turns up on what sounds ...

$9.45 Following up a successful appearance at Ozzfest 2004, prog-metal outfit Lamb of God released ASHES OF THE WAKE, its major-label debut. Wielding a sound that's crushingly heavy while still maintaining a righteous groove, LOG serves up in-your-face metal that's sure to please fans of Pantera and Slayer.
Frontman Randy Blythe howls with a voice reminiscent of Venom's Kronos, as he rants about finding salvation in vice ("The Faded Line") and organized crime's code of honor ("Omerta"). Fueled by the double-kick-drum ferocity of skin-basher Chris Adler, guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler lay down a two-pronged attack that falls somewhere between the pummeling assault of classic American thrash and the more melodic and orchestral complexity of European metal. Anyone doubting Adler and Morton's chops need listen no further than the gnarly instrumental ...
| | Slayer Christ Illusion CD (2006)
Sacrament songs
$30.29 2006's CHRIST ILLUSION marks a return to form for one of the fiercest and most influential metal bands in history. Slayer's original lineup reconvened in the studio for the first time since 1990's SEASONS IN THE ABYSS for CHRIST ILLUSION, and the results recall the classic sound of landmark thrash releases like 1986's REIGN IN BLOOD. Time hasn't dulled the band's terrifying intensity one iota; if anything, Slayer's sound crackles with renewed attack.
The breathtaking double-time drums, grinding guitar riff, and throat-shredding vocals on the opener, "Flesh Storm," signal the relentless sonic onslaught in store for the listener. Lyrically, too, Slayer is in fine form, exploring in typically dark fashion the pitfalls of religion, orthodoxy, and--with timely references to unrest in the Middle East--the ideology of war. But it's the band's musical chops that impress the most, with radical song structures, angular tempo changes, and blistering guitar solos that prove the legendary band is ...

Sacrament album
$28.55 For a band that's known worldwide as the premier purveyors of goth-rock gloom and doom (though hardly incapable of sparkling pop gems), it's no small thing to identify a particular album as their darkest, most disturbing sonic statement. Nevertheless, PORNOGRAPHY surely fills the bill. Reportedly created during a time of great psychological upheaval for group leader Robert Smith, it's a gloriously no-holds-barred existential angst-fest, from the very first line, "It doesn't matter if we all die." Not since Leonard Cohen's SONGS OF LOVE AND HATE had despair been so lovingly ladled into album form, but it's not just Smith's Prozac prescription that was upped during these sessions. His lyrical approach expanded as well, incorporating more stream-of-consciousness poetic imagery. And the rhythmic attack of bassist Simon Gallup and drummer Lol Tolhurst reached new heights of propulsiveness and viscerality as well, whether pounding out a churning syncopation on "The Hanging Garden" or delivering the heavy-hammered nail in the coffin on "A Short Term Effect."
Universal UK pressing features the same content as the Rhino/US version, though packaged in the standard Universal 'Deluxe Edition' slipcase. 2 CD set compiled by Robert Smith and digitally remastered from the original master tapes. CD 1 is the original album, CD 2 is called Rarities 1981-1982 and features 14 tracks on CD for the very first time - 'Break' (group home demo), 'Demise' (group home demo), 'Temptation' (studio demo), 'The Figurehead' ...

Sacrament Music Review Average Rating: (4.4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Very enjoyable for even non-metal fans... I'm more of a hard rock listener than a heavy metal fan, but I have really enjoyed Lamb of God (and, in particular, this album). Unlike many bands I've heard, Lamb of God can back up their gutteral screaming with solid music and guitar rifts, making their music approachable for people who've never breached the genre. I wholeheartedly recommend the album. Submitted by Nathan (Currently deployed in Baghdad) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

over hyped fun, cleaner, less complex. cmon really not great soloists, guys. singing more and more like pantera, which is prob. a good thing, riffs less complex, more monotony then previous, better produced, but I dare say a few trite songs, a few boring riffs, I would like to see them with more complexity, longer songs, more atmosphere, maybe even a concept album. Lamb of God get's better and better. From Lamb of God's mind-blowing Burn the Priest (1999) to this perfection in an album, it's just a progression from amazing screeches and rolling drum beats this guttural, guitar crunching, drum pounding masterpiece. This album has many riffs that are very catchy yet extremely metal at the same time. The only parts about this album were "iffy" were the repetitiveness of "Again We Rise" and Pathetic." Other than that, the songs "Walk with me in Hell," "Descending," and "More Time to Kill" really make this band (and album) shine from everyone else. This band deffinetly has the potential to platinum, many times over and I'm hoping whatever albums they come out with after are all as godly as this one.
