| | Snuff Disposable Income CD (2003)
Mastercuts songs
$11.45 Some of the people who have been following Snuff for a long time insist that the Londoners did their best work in the late '80s and early '90s -- that they reached their creative peak around 1989-1992 and went downhill after that. But even if their earlier recordings are their most essential, this 2003 release isn't a bad addition to their catalog. Disposable Income doesn't break much new ground for Snuff or offer a lot of surprises; they usually stick to the sort of thrashy and aggressive yet melodic punk-pop that they're best known for. Snuff has always had a distinctively British, Cockney-ish sound -- they're from London, after all -- and they haven't become any less British-sounding on energetic tunes like "Once Upon a Time Far Far Away," "Angels 1-5," "7 Days (Solomon's Boring Week)," and "The Other Half of You." However, they aren't so British-sounding on a hidden track, which turns out to be an instrumental that combines alternative rock with Irish/Celtic music. Quite often, hidden tracks ...

| | Hillstomp One Word CD (2005)
Mastercuts CD music
$10.29 Some folks say these two tired souls crawled out the portland shanghai tunnels, back to repay the city's watering holes with sweet odes to sin and salvation, breathing the melodies that have always been sung, releasing others that always will be sung, in other words...In the spring of 2001, Hillstomp was born in a basement in SE Portland, OR. It was the bastard child of Henry Kammerer and John Johnson's mutual need to make music and drink beer. Within a few weeks the Guitar/"Drum" duo played their first open mic at the green room in Portland to a rousing and slightly scary response. Unfortunately, John's drumset (cardboard box, plastic bucket and weber grill lid) didn't survive the ordeal so the pair went back under the basement stairs to build some new drums and practice. In June of 2002 Hillstomp emerged from the dust and dark with a raucous brand of hill country blues rock stomp. It is a visceral music that makes you want to stomp your feet, shake your ass and love your neighbor. After ...
