(2 Customer Reviews)
Robert Randolph & The Family Band: Robert Randolph (vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, pedal steel guitar); Danyel Morgan (vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar); Jason Crosby (vocals, piano, Hammond b-3 organ, keyboards); Marcus Randolph (vocals, drums).
On his second studio outing, Robert Randolph leads his Family Band through a typically energetic set. Although it features guest appearances by Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews, and R&B vocalist Leela James, COLORBLIND is clearly Randolph's show from start to finish, with his passionate voice and searing steel-guitar work at the fore throughout this assured set. Randolph deftly mixes funk, soul, and rock, and gives the latter style unexpected prominence on fierce tracks such as the stomping "Thrill of It" and "Homecoming," a gospel-tinged song that is marked by slightly ominous six-string riffs and blistering solos. For those seeking evidence of Randolph's sterling reputation, COLORBLIND provides 11 strong examples.
Additional personnel include: Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews (vocals, guitar); Leela James (vocals).
Recording information: Ronnie Milsap's Groundstar Labs, Nashville, Tennessee.Vibe (p.175) - "Randolph's got ever so much swagger, and on tracks like 'Thrill of It,' his pedal steel guitar skills speak plenty loudly." No Depression (p.104) - "Randolph's trademark blazing leads are captivating; few players hold that kind of mystique..." Colorblind
$6.79 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and ...

$9.49 UNCLASSIFIED was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album. "Squeeze" was nominated for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
Listening to the musical mastery displayed on UNCLASSIFIED, it's hard to believe this is only Robert Randolph's first studio album, arriving on the heels of his in-concert debut record LIVE AT THE WETLANDS. Randolph comes out of the Sacred Steel tradition that mates gospel music with virtuosic pedal steel guitar playing. With the Family Band, he takes that sound a step further by incorporating the jam-band-friendly rock format that's found huge success with live audiences.
By turns funky and bluesy, he weaves his fiery-but-lyrical steel lines in and around a groove-based rhythm section, through songs that leave plenty of room for instrumental prowess. ...

NAME: Zach AaronAGE: Twenty-FiveSIGN: Capricorn, with Sagittarius rising.FAVORITE PLACE: California coastline near San Luis Obispo. I'm in love with standing on the foggy cliffs and staring out at the giant jagged rocks jetting out of the water.MUSICAL INFLUENCES INCLUDE: Billy Joel, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Simon and Garfunkel, Counting Crows, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Guns & Roses, Elton John, The Beatles, Remy Zero, Amiee Mann, Joe Satriani, Aerosmith, and many more that might surprise you.POLIICAL IDEALS: I say let's cut military spending in half, give everyone free healthcare and free education all the way through college. Let's stop locking drug addicts in jail and lock them in rehab instead. Let's raise minimum wage to $10 an hour, and let's realize that there's enough to go around, but we're ALL a little self absorbed; myself included.CONTROVERSIAL COMMENT: If I had to choose between either pot or alcohol being illegal, I'd choose alcohol to be illegal. Right now, while several drunk people are driving into oncoming traffic or stumbling down staircases, there are several stoned people glued to a couch, trying to figure out what it all means.AMBITIONS: Traveling the world with my music, making friends along the way, and inspiring as many people as possible.BIGGEST FEAR: Lost opportunities.LIFE CHANGING EVENT: When I experienced and therefore realized that Everything is One. ..And ...
