Music critics and highbrow listeners may look down their nose at Justin Timberlake, doubting that the celebrated former N'Sync leader is good for more than light, frothy dance-pop. Timberlakes's sophomore effort, FUTURESEX/LOVESOUNDS, should ... Full Descriptionmake both camps rethink that stance. While the album certainly sets out to entertain, it's also full of ambitious, well-constructed grooves that prove the superstar is serious about getting down and dirty. The album steps up the Michael Jackson-influenced sound of JUSTIFIED by delving deeper into club music, hip-hop, and funk, creating a bumping, writhing soundtrack for a set of songs unabashedly about sex.
Timberlake spared no expense recruiting some of the best producers on the scene. Beatmaker extraordinaire Timbaland is a primary collaborator, and his experimental stutter-funk landscapes make for the album's best moments (the title track, for example, or the spare, driving lead-off single "Sexyback"). Early Prince is a major touchstone for much of the disc, but Timberlake also draws on rolling, Dirty South jams ("Chop Me Up") and smooth, urban-contemporary loverman R&B ("My Love"). Its obsession with the bedroom notwithstanding, FUTURESEX/LOVESOUNDS shows Timberlake moving toward an exciting musical maturity.
Personnel include: Justin Timberlake (vocals, guitar, piano); Timbaland (rap vocals, various instruments, programming); T.I., Three 6 Mafia, Will.i.am (rap vocals).
Recording information: Thomas Crown, Virginia Beach, VA.
Rolling Stone (p.86) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "[H]is best new tracks are thrilling....Some of the up-tempo stuff flirts with mechanical muscle-flexing..." Rolling Stone (p.106) - Ranked #26 in Rolling Stone's "The Top 50 Albums Of 2006" -- "[O]ne of the year's most enduringly pleasurable hits." Entertainment Weekly (p.70) - "Superior tracks like 'LoveStoned' and 'What Comes Around,' suggest a happy middle path, where Timberlake can equally embrace Timbaland's canny beats and his own vocal helium." Entertainment Weekly (p.128) - Ranked #4 in Entertainment Weekly's "Top 10 Records Of 2006" -- "[T]he two Tims create a boldly forward-thinking soundtrack for nocturnal amusements like club cruising and rump shaking." Q (p.122) - Ranked #36 in Q Magazine's "100 Greatest Albums of 2006" -- "[A] hyper-confident mix of stripped-down R&B and '80s electro soul." Vibe (p.142) - "He's still got a lithe, lovely vocal instrument and a falsetto that evokes El DeBarge." Mojo (Publisher) (p.116) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[The titles] leave no doubt as to the chief Timberlake brand value, and the louche synth funk and electro-flavoured R&B therein make a pretty seductive back-up argument." Futuresex / Lovesounds album
$10.85 After her somewhat lukewarm 2003 release LOVE & LIFE, Mary J. Blige returns to her rightful place as the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul with 2005's THE BREAKTHROUGH. Blige enlisted a host of guest producers to contribute tracks to THE BREAKTHROUGH, and the result is one of her strongest and most varied albums. As usual, the sound is a mixture of smooth, urban contemporary and hip-hop edge, but Blige nails it ...

Futuresex / Lovesounds album
$10.85 The association that versatile pop chanteuse Fergie (aka Stacy Ferguson) struck up with the hip-hop crew Black Eyed Peas (she was central to their hugely successful 2003 release, ELEPHUNK) proved she was capable of playing in the big leagues, and it was only a matter of time before the singer dropped a solo effort. THE DUTCHESS arrived in 2006 and was packed, not surprisingly, with slick, commercially ...

Futuresex / Lovesounds Music Review Average Rating: (3.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews boring simple, unimaginatve, manufactured ... not very interesting at all. it's amazing what passes for music these days. it doesn't surprise me that this is up for a grammy. crap usually wins, and it's impossible to take the grammys seriously. but the fact that this has gotten even a single positive review, by people who supposedly know music, now that does surprise me. Who the hell is he fooling? Daron from S.O.A.D. said it best on "Can you say brainwashed?" Not only is the world suffering from GBW, but we get another flipping finger from the poppish little boy Justin. Not only is he ugly, but his music is ugly too! The lamest album there is, I decided to listen to samples so it can infuriate me, which it did! The song "Bringing Sexy Back?" is probably worst song to have been made in the history of music. The song is also a joke for it to be considered hip pop, even Rob Zombie's "Foxy, Foxy" was a lot better than this crap. Then there is "Chop Me Up" and "Summer Love" ha ha ha ha, I don't get it. Stupid sounds, stupid songs, ugly pop singer trying to be hardcore. What's more shocking is Rick Rubin collabirating in one of the songs! Dang, Mr. Rubin did nice work with a lot of cool artist like Slayer, Audioslave, Rage Against The Machine, Run DMC, AC/DC, Jay Z, Johnny Cash, and he is producing Metallica. Wait Metallica, and he did something like Justin Timberlake? This is not good for Metallica. Sexyback and Sexy Ladies are pretty stupid for a song. Horrible, to finalize it. A man once said "Bringing sexy back", while I say "off with his head"! Even GG Allin can make a better album than this crap. By the way, Ramones warned the people about this crap and they were right. Worst album of 2006. Submitted by sleez_boy (Bakersfield, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Processed Taltentless Crap! Any one who calls this real music is brain dead. It is noting but annoying suger coated sound made by a machine. It is just an example of how people do not appriciate real talent in music nowadays and that mtv has taken over the whole music industry. If you want real music, check out some old school metal like,Judas Priest,Accept,Black Sabbath,or Megadeth.Long live METAL!!!
