| | Everclear Welcome To The Drama Club CD Everclear Discography of CDs
(5 Customer Reviews)
Following Everclear's 2004 split with Capitol Records, singer/guitarist Art Alexakis became the sole remaining member of the Portland, Oregon-based post-grunge act. However, rather than giving up the Everclear name, Alexakis assembled a new band, and soldiered on with '06's WELCOME TO THE DRAMA CLUB. Boasting a notably fuller sound, the expanded quintet offers up a lively set of pop-savvy rock, as best exemplified by the keyboard-heavy "Hater" and the melancholy, mid-tempo "Drama King," a pair of catchy tunes that position Alexakis as a legitimate rock-&-roll survivor.
Everclear: Art Alexakis (vocals); Dave French (guitar); Josh Crawley (keyboards); Sam Hudson (bass guitar); Brett Snyder (drums).
Recording information: 2005.
Welcome To The Drama Club Music Everclear Welcome To The Drama Club Songs Welcome To The Drama Club Music Welcome To The Drama Club Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) For all the Everclear fans... Art has grown up and become one of the "old rockers". In this case he does it with grace-unlike Eddie Vedder and such. Get the albumn listen to it a few times and love it. Cant go wrong! I haven't even heard it yet. But I know it has to be good. I've never heard an Everclear song that was bad. Submitted by no (Wisconsin, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Good stuff! It's nice to see Everclear back again. I was almost certain that Art had totally disbanded Everclear a few years ago after Slow Motion Daydream, but I was wrong...he's got a new lineup now. The nice thing is that new members have taken Everclear's sound a step further with this album, using keyboard and other added elements to the mix. To be quite honest, I miss original members Craig and Greg, but Slow Motion Daydream was kinda drab compared to this; some parts of the album remind me of So Much for the Afterglow, which is my favorite. "Hater" is the best on here, and is actually worth buying this album just for that song alone, but there are other catchy highlights, like "Under the Western Stars" and the groovy "Taste of Hell". A word of advice...do NOT buy the edited version! This is definitely a must-have for fans of good music. Submitted by megadeth1981 (Lakeland, FL, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
art keeps on rockin as a huge everclear fan, i wasn't totally sure what to make of this albulm at first because what i really really love is the older stuff, like sparkle and fade and so much for the afterglow. but after listening to it a few times, it grew on me a lot. art's lyrics are intense, honest, and perfect for the average person to relate to on so many levels. cant go wrong with everclear first of all, it seems half the people hearing this album are saying they miss the old everclear. true, i do prefer their older stuff, their new stuff is excellent as well. in my opinion every everclear album has its high points. if you are new to everclear definitely start with: So Much for the Afterglow and then Sparkle and Fade. Having always posited himself as the old, married guy of the post-grunge set, Everclear frontman Art Alexakis continues to explore this grown-up world on SLOW MOTION DAYDREAM. Alexakis maintains his observant, elder statesman role while warbling about the promiscuous bad-girl-turned-parent on the catchy "Volvo Driving Soccer Mom" and having taking a very ...
| | Collective Soul Youth CD (2004)
Welcome To The Drama Club
$12.89 Billed as Collective Soul's first independent album since its debut, YOUTH arrived a full three years after the group's previous effort, the compilation 7EVEN YEAR ITCH. The hiatus (and greater creative control) seemed to put Ed Roland and company in a positive place, as the record is an undeniably poppy, feel-good effort. "Better Now" declares the band's newfound confidence explicitly in the lyrics, and the music drives the point home, with a rock & roll guitar riff right out of the AC/DC songbook. "How Do You Love" and "Under Heaven's Skies" are moody, mid-tempo acoustic-guitar-driven tunes reminiscent of THE JOSHUA TREE-era U2. "Counting the Days" is a grungy rocker (with just a bit of twang) ...
| | Better Than Ezra Before The Robots CD (2005)
Welcome To The Drama Club
$13.69 Given the title BEFORE THE ROBOTS, one might assume that Better Than Ezra's 2005 album is a concept record with a sci-fi bent. Fear not, though, BTE is still crafting catchy pop songs; drummer Travis McNabb merely nicked the name from a bizarre dream. Here, the New Orleans trio offers 13 tunes that are a crisp mix of storytelling prowess and genre dabbling. The record includes the neo-funk of "Juicy," which finds frontman/composer Kevin Griffin taking on a Mick Jagger-circa-SOME GIRLS falsetto, and ...

Welcome To The Drama Club
$14.45 Since 1996's BEAUTIFUL FREAK, Mark Oliver Everett used his band, Eels, as a mouthpiece for his inspirationally morose worldview. Recorded over a period of seven years in Everett's basement, the 33 tracks of 2005's BLINKING LIGHTS AND OTHER REVELATIONS see the singer/songwriter backing off from the rockier sounds of 2003's SHOOTENANNY! to meditate on the ...
