Yoga One
$12.19 Recorded live at the Taj Mahal, India and the Forbidden City, Beijing, China from March to May, 1997.
Recorded live at the Taj Mahal, TRIBUTE pays musical homage to India on several songs; Greek-born composer and keyboardist Yanni describes the album as a tribute to the builders of the Taj and the Forbidden City, as well as to the people of India and China. Yanni's ethereal keyboard work is backed by an immense orchestra, vocalists, a choir, and various world instruments including didgeridoo, doodook, charango, and bamboo saxophone. The music is atmospheric and grand, expressing a variety of emotional states, from the triumphant opening song, "Deliverance," to the romantic, Spanish-tinged "Love is All," sung soulfully by Vann Johnson: "I am breath against this fire/And I will not turn away/I'm waiting for time to carry me/Like a tempest to the sea." TRIBUTE is an album of optimistic, dynamic music which seems geared ...

$13.19 Music Review by Ming Yuan Spirit of Change January/February 2001 Shawna Carol Goddess Chant - Sacred Pleasure "In 1986, I was meditating when a fully arranged choral chant came to me.A large choir was singing the pagan ritual blessing "Blessed Be." I realized that I was being asked to create a new style of sacred music.Over the next nine years, these sacred seed chants for the Goddess came to me..." With the above introduction, Shawna Carol validates the origin of her inspiration and direction in honoring the divine feminine, the Goddess, Mother Earth. This devotion led Shawna to realize the powerful healing available for rebalancing the male-female power of the planet. The lyrics are brief and succinct, on average no more than 5 lines per selection. These brief stanzas, however, are both powerful and full of power.A sample case in point is "Be Still": "Be still and listen/know that I am/you are/Goddess." Shawna's strong but angelic vocals and prayer bell accompanied by drone vocals, synthesizer and the glorious guitar pickings of John Mason convey an awe-inspiring tonal beauty ...

$5.99 Back in the days when Newport was famous for fighting and everyone was skipping about to Brit Pop (a lethal combination, Im sure youll agree)Flyscreen were the big kids in the playground - harder, louder and angrier than anyone else. Together with 60ft Dolls, Dub War and Novocaine they created their own particular brand of post-grunge mayhem a punk-pop cocktail of thrashing guitars with pithy, often witty songs about school, football and shagging.Naturally fame beckoned. Following the release of two exceptional mini-albums Dap Bag and Council Pop Flyscreen were snapped up by the grande fromages at MCA/Universal, touring with the likes of Bush, No-Doubt, The Offspring, and Girls Against Boys, being tipped by the trendy haircuts in the music press and generally lording it about town.It all imploded of course, like all good things rock ...
