Yoga One music CDs
$13.19 Music Review by Ming Yuan Spirit of Change January/February 2001 Shawna Carol Goddess Chant - Sacred Pleasure "In 1986, I was meditating when a fully arranged choral chant came to me.A large choir was singing the pagan ritual blessing "Blessed Be." I realized that I was being asked to create a new style of sacred music.Over the next nine years, these sacred seed chants for the Goddess came to me..." With the above introduction, Shawna Carol validates the origin of her inspiration and direction in honoring the divine feminine, the Goddess, Mother Earth. This devotion led Shawna to realize the powerful healing available for rebalancing the male-female power of the planet. The lyrics are brief and succinct, on average no more than 5 lines per selection. These brief stanzas, however, are both powerful and full of power.A sample case in point is "Be Still": "Be still and listen/know that I am/you are/Goddess." Shawna's strong but angelic vocals and prayer bell accompanied by drone vocals, synthesizer and the glorious guitar pickings of John Mason convey an awe-inspiring tonal beauty beyond description. Much of the essence of Ms. Carol's work can be discovered in her impressive accomplishments as a composer, singer, recording artist and sound healer. In addition to composing and performing, she founded and directs SpiritSong Center in Bedford, MA, and has facilitated SpiritSong workshops at the Omega Institute, New York Open Center, Julia ...

| | Krishna Das All One CD (2005)
Yoga One CD music
$13.89 Countless fans have been introduced to Krishna Das through yoga classes, where his soothing rhythmic chants, preformed in a deep, rich timbre, complement instruction on the spiritual element of the exercise. Only those students inclined toward extra credit, though, are likely to know that the former Jeffrey "K.D." Kagel, renamed Krishna Das after years of studying alongside his guru, Mahara ji, in India, is a one-time rock singer from Long Island, N.Y.
All One, Krishna's ninth CD, delivers inward-looking listeners that much closer to recognizing the chant master's unlikely background on their own, though. Essentially an hour-long melodic recitation of the name Hare Krishna set to accompaniment that ranges from Indian to classical to rock in style, the disc makes use of several rock & roll heavy hitters. Co-produced with Walter Becker (Steely Dan), Jay Messina (Aerosmith), and David Nichtern (who wrote "Midnight at the Oasis"), All One finds Becker on bass, Nichtern on guitar, and Def Leppard's Rick Allen on drums. Which accounts for why, even on more sedate tracks, a certain rock energy seeps through. That Krishna Das manages that influence without allowing the disc to become a mongrelized slab of meditation-lite -- it's quite listenable in a head-clearing sort of way -- is a testament, maybe, to the concept that his burnished, entrancing voice comes from a place purer than most. ~ Tammy La Gorce

Yoga One songs
$5.99 Back in the days when Newport was famous for fighting and everyone was skipping about to Brit Pop (a lethal combination, Im sure youll agree)Flyscreen were the big kids in the playground - harder, louder and angrier than anyone else. Together with 60ft Dolls, Dub War and Novocaine they created their own particular brand of post-grunge mayhem a punk-pop cocktail of thrashing guitars with pithy, often witty songs about school, football and shagging.Naturally fame beckoned. Following the release of two exceptional mini-albums Dap Bag and Council Pop Flyscreen were snapped up by the grande fromages at MCA/Universal, touring with the likes of Bush, No-Doubt, The Offspring, and Girls Against Boys, being tipped by the trendy haircuts in the music press and generally lording it about town.It all imploded of course, like all good things rock and roll, but thankfully the Newport punkerteers are back, with their first studio album since ...
