Debut album from the Danish band gets their influences from everywhere, and they also know how to create their own sound with it. The guitarist Flemming C. Lund (Autumn Leaves, Invocator) plays his solo`s very convicing, while the drumbeast Morten Lowe Sorensen (Submission) fires his blastbeast like a madman. The style of The Arcane Order is somewhere between classic trash (mainly because of the riffs) and melodic death metal, but because of the many details, like gentle placed samples & keyboards, The Machinery Of Oblivion sounds very fresh. On top of that the singer Kasper Thomsen growls his lungs out from the start to the finish, but the music still stays catchy in a special way. This is really an album that every (modern) metal fan has to have! Metal Blade. 2006. Machinery Of Oblivion Music Arcane Order Machinery Of Oblivion Songs | 1. | Prologue: The Machinery Of Oblivion |

Holy Moses: Sabina Classen (vocals); Oliver Jaath, Michael Hankel (electric guitar, background vocals); Thomas Neitsch (bass guitar); Atomic Steiff (drums). The 1990s and the 21st century have seen plenty of women singing loud, heavy, forceful, in-your-face rock, but they tend to be concentrated in certain areas of rock. The harder side of alternative rock has been very ...

| | Gojira From Mars To Sirius CD (2006)
Machinery Of Oblivion
$13.55 French death metal outfit Gojira put a bit of a twist on the traditions of the genre. Extended song lengths give the musicians time to stretch out, and the band plays with complex rhythms, juxtapositions of loud and soft sections, and other hallmarks of progressive metal. None of this is to say FROM MARS TO SIRIUS isn't heavy, however, as the rhythm section crushes with the weight of an anvil and the riffs slice with a razory brutality. Rather than filling up space with hackneyed virtuoso shredding (the album has a conspicuous dearth of solos), Gojira funnel their expertise into intricate song structures and immediately affecting atmospheres. Although their first two efforts, 2000's Terra Incognita and 2003's The Link, had been quite impressive in their own ways, Gojira's ...

| | Death From Above 1979 You're A Woman I'm A Machine CD (2004) (Import) Bonus Track; Japan
Machinery Of Oblivion
$42.05 CD contains 1 bonus track. Death From Above 1979 makes their considerable racket with only bass, drums, and the occasional Moog squelch assist. This isn't a gimmick -- between Sebastien Grainger's frantic wail and the overdriven bass riffs of Jesse F. Keeler, the duo's You're a Woman, I'm a Machine pulses with a steady, sweaty energy that's punctuated with arena-sized hooks. "Blood on Our Hands" boils dance-punk nearly all the way down, leaving only a relentless hi-hat cymbal, while "Turn It Out" and "Cold War" churn on double-time rhythms and rudimentary, yet completely effective bass runs. The duo's setup certainly limits their range, which means the album can occasionally resemble one long song. But at just over a half-hour, it's over before any questions about the lack of guitars can even start to form. There are hyper indie rock flare-ups, like in the Hot Snakes/Rocket from the Crypt yelp of "Going Steady." And "Sexy Results" is a flirtatious and amplified cross of new wave and Rapture-style strut that comes complete with a cowbell upbeat. Preoccupation with the opposite sex provides some of You're a Woman, I'm a Machine's strongest moments, from Grainger's "I don't need you/I want you" clarification ...
