| | Rickard Javerling Two Times Five Lullaby CD - Import Rickard Javerling Discography of CDs
This Swedish multi-instrumental musician admits a debt to folk music in general and Chicago post-rock in particular. On his first U.S. full-length release, he conjures the shade of John Fahey, as well as elements of the Tortoise offshoot Pullman, in a set of gorgeously realized, dappled acoustic instrumentals like the childlike "Windplay" and the simple, hypnotic 'Second Summer," the latter of which has the hazy, cozy charm of a late autumn afternoon.
Swedish travelling musician Rickard Jäverling is a man with heart, something never more evident than when gliding through Two Times Five Lullaby -- his debut album. After spending some time in Ireland and Glasgow playing folk music to earn a living, Jäverling decided to return to his native Sweden and start laying down the tracks he'd always dreamed of with his musical friends in Stockholm. Taking influence from his love of American folk music, Chicago post-rock, classic Swedish prog and the pastoral ambience of Eno and Budd, Jäverling began to piece together a record utilizing the musical talents of anyone he could find. We have banjos, accordion, drums, harps and even Hammond organ (played by Sagor and Swing's Erik Malmberg) dropped into the mix in what feels like a document of friendly inclusion. A coherent whole when listened to from beginning to end, Jäverling has created a record which reads like a book, each chapter detailing excitement, adventure, love and remorse. Whether moulding a classic hoedown ("Three Sisters"), a softly-spoken ballad ("Two Times Five Lullaby"), slow-burning prog ("Track") or a nostalgic waltz ("Martina's Waltz") it is Jäverling's honesty and pure uncynical talent that always shines through, and in this post-millennial climate that is more than you could ever ask for. Two Times Five Lullaby
$11.49 Named for a town near Bristol, England, Portishead is a British dance band that grabs ideas from all over the mod pop world (spaghetti Western guitars, turntable scratching, melancholy soul vocals, atmospheric organs, house beats) and stirs them into spacey, dub-like productions that sound like a dance club in the middle of a "Twin Peaks" dream. You could call it surreal hip-hop pop. But if the beats on the band's debut album achieve a kind of trance-like static, the songs themselves reach for something more ...

Two Times Five Lullaby
$12.55 Washington, DC-based sophisticates Thievery Corporation (producers Rob Garza and Eric Hilton) made several albums of superb down-tempo electronica prior to THE COSMIC GAME, and each release refined the duo's sensuous blend of deep, head-nodding beats, exotic world-music melodies, and lounge-ready atmospherics. This 2005 record builds on the strengths of the Corporation's previous albums, offering more ...

| | Kitaro Best Of Ten Years 1976-86 (20 Bit Master) CDs (1997) 1976-1986
Two Times Five Lullaby
$18.19 Kitaro has long been one of the linchpins of new age music, and his sizable discography might prove intimidating to newcomers. For that reason, BEST OF TEN YEARS 1976-1986 is a great place for the uninitiated to start. Over two discs and 18 tracks, BEST OF TEN YEARS provides an excellent overview of Kitaro's art, which centers on soothing, symphonic landscapes generated primarily by synthesizer.
Many of Kitaro's best and best-known albums--KI, OASIS, and the SILK ROAD series among them--were released in the first decade of his career, and highlights from those albums are included here. Kitaro's devoted international fanbase hold fast to the notion that his music ...

| | The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac CDs (2002) Enhanced CD
Two Times Five Lullaby
$20.25 Disc 1 is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
Although the title is a misnomer, considering that material from Fleetwood Mac line-ups featuring earlier members including founder Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, Bob Welch, and Danny Kirwan is noticeably absent, THE VERY BEST OF serves up the cream of the Buckingham/Nicks years. Rounded out by Mick Fleetwood and former paramours John and Christine McVie, this "classic" Mac line-up lasted for seven albums and created timeless material often fueled by romantic turmoil within its ranks. With Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, and Christine McVie all serving as singer-songwriters, there were plenty of hits to go around.
Ably displacing 1998's GREATEST HITS package, this two-CD set features plenty of well-known radio hits starting with cuts from the Mac's 1975 self-titled smash ("Monday Morning," "Rhiannon," and "Say You Love Me") on through the live 1997 reunion album THE DANCE ("I'm So Afraid," "Big Love"). In between, the wealth of solid material boggles the mind and includes classics found on 1977's classic RUMOURS ("Go Your Own Way," "Don't Stop"), 1979's TUSK (title track, "Sara"), and 1982's MIRAGE ("Gypsy," "Hold Me"). Equally engaging are slightly more obscure cuts like "Paper Doll" and "Silver Springs" (originally found on the out-of-print box set 25 YEARS: THE CHAIN).
The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac packs 2 CDs with 36 hit singles and popular album tracks spanning 1975-1997. Features the #1 'Dreams' ...
| | Biosphere Nordheim Transformed CD (2004) (Import) Norway
Two Times Five Lullaby
$15.69 Arne Nordheim has enjoyed relative success, at least in his native Norway, as a composer, but his early electronic music remained largely ignored. One of Rune Grammofon's first projects upon its inception was to release a collection of his electronic works from the late '60s under the title Electric. The release triggered a rediscovery of the music and had an immediate influence on the young generation of experimental electronica artists. Working as a tribute and a testimony, Nordheim Transformed combines remixes by Geir Jenssen, aka Biosphere, and Helge Sten, aka Deathprod ...
| | Hauschka Prepared Piano CD (2005)
Two Times Five Lullaby
$13.35 Hauschka's The Prepared Piano is the distillation of Erik Satie's stripped-down languor, John Cage's innovations, and Klimperei's toy pop. Or in other words: the prepared piano technique applied to simple tunes that have a childlike quality to them. Cage had desecrated and reinvented the bourgeois instrument par excellence in the 1940s, taping, screwing, and placing almost every small object possible on its strings ...
