Emergency Energy album
$15.05 Despite his status as one of hip-hop's most prolific artists, Z-Ro never quite spreads himself too thin. The provocatively titled COCAINE is his second release from 2009, and features his trademark self-aware, yet rapier-sharp lyrics over some of the hotter beats out of the fertile Houston scene. The Intro skilfully sets out the landscape as the dark-vocaled MC reflects upon his choice of a life of street dealing without a shred of remorse, while stressing his decision was not exactly the wise one. From there, Z-Ro, an expert storyteller, wanders from tale to tale, each one delivered with a novelist's touch, on a record which somehow transcends cookie-cutter.
In 2009, Z-Ro's loyal fan base expected Heroin, a two-CD set announced the previous year, but instead they got Cocaine, a one-CD version with many songs that already appeared on the mixtape Codeine. Confusing, and rumors of the rapper's difficulties with the Rap-A-Lot label top it all off, but the good news is that Cocaine is no great disappointment. It does feel a bit disjointed and ...
| | Snoop Dogg Malice N Wonderland CD (2009)
Emergency Energy CD music
$12.54 On his tenth album (and first as the chairman of Priority Records), Snoop Dogg continues to prove he's not a relic of the G-funk era, proving that while the music may change, good flow never goes out of style. Right out of the gate, Snoop drops a song for the West Coast Jerkin' set with "I Wanna Rock" before switching gears back to classic Snoop with the Dre-inspired "2 Minute Warning," where the rapper lets everyone know he's still the same Snoop Dogg after all these years as he proclaims, "Ponytail still swingin', hair still braided/Laker to a Clipper I won't be faded." With production by Lil Jon, Timbaland, Danjahandz, Battlecat, and the Neptunes (just to name a handful), it's no wonder the album sounds like not only ...

| | Black Eyed Peas Elephunk CD (2003) Bonus Track
Emergency Energy album
$10.45 With distinct, cuttingly insightful, yet subtle lyrics fed over consistently catchy beats and eclectic arrangements, L.A.'s Black Eyed Peas have earned a high level of respect within the rap world, significant attention at college radio, and even the occasional crossover hit. Third release ELEPHUNK sees the addition of a fourth member, enchanting female vocalist Fergie (introduced with verve on the dancehall "Hey Mama"), and the continued elevation of their style and skills, as the group journeys all over the map, never falling into a funk of boredom.
ELEPHUNK opens the ears from the outset with the flophouse jazz backbeat of "Hands Up," simultaneously easy-going and infectious, before crashing into the fluorescent, straight-up party anthem "Labor Day" using the familiar JB's "The Grunt" sample as successfully as the Bomb Squad did ...
| | Eminem Curtain Call: The Hits CD (2005)
Emergency Energy CD music
$10.45 It's hard to believe, given his gargantuan impact on popular culture, that Eminem had only released four full-length albums by 2004. That year's ENCORE showed the rapper's artistic vitality fading just a bit, but 2005's CURTAIN CALL, an overdue greatest-hits collection, helps remind audiences that Eminem produced a stunning string of singles in a short span of time. Naturally, CURTAIN CALL eschews the ...

| | King L Already Famous CD (2006)
Emergency Energy songs
$11.39 L.king aka E.L.K. has had a love for Hip-Hop before cats were break dancing on cardboard, so he's been rhyming for along time.He grew up in Brooklyn home of some of the best MCs and where some would say is the true Mecca of Hip-Hop. Believe me when I say he is not the exception, He is the best. What makes him stand alone, is that he is alone in an industry of overly saturated booty shaking MCs that make music with no true content. His life, his dreams these are some of the same things we all share. In L'S music, he starts by making the tracks sound like more then just a beat but a story by its self. Could he make the song cry, can he bring his listener with him, not to hear but to absorb the music? Turn the lights out and listen to (I Gave U) number12 on the CD and feel what he felt the day his girl left him. In (Show Me Mercy) number 3 on the CD,he spoke for every one going through something that may seem, or may be uncontrollable at some time or another in their lives. Like (Show Me Mercy) most of his music brings a melodic visualization of the story he's telling. All the production and song writing is done by L, with no samples or ghost writing. This is something he prides himself on, because I know there's a lot of producers who can't creatively come up with a song or beat of their own without sampling a song that has already gone platinum. And the same thing goes for those MCs that can't write their own material. L started his own label inspired by people like Master P. , and Cash Money. They just showed him you can't wait for something to happen you just need to make it happen ...
