On their sixth studio album, Gainesville, Florida's Sister Hazel sticks close to the upbeat, strummy pop-rock formula that made them popular on campuses and AAA radio stations throughout the mid-1990s and forward. And though their music is as comfortable and familiar as a flannel shirt and worn-out jeans, they are capable of delivering powerful rockers like the single "Mandolin Moon," featuring sparkling vocal harmonies on the chorus; the aching power-ballad "One Time;" and the riff-heavy, bluesy rocker "Shame," that sounds like a lost Steppenwolf track.
Sister Hazel: Ken Block (vocals, acoustic guitar); Drew Copeland (vocals, electric guitar); Ryan Newell (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, background vocals); Jett Beres (bass guitar); Mark Trojanowski (drums).
Additional personnel: Shawn Mullins (background vocals).
Sister Hazel Absolutely Songs Absolutely Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) great CD I recently became a Sister Hazel fan and have yet to find a song I do not like. Going to see them live in Nov. and can't wait. Very happy, feel good music, you can sing along with. This is by far my favorite CD. Submitted by Mattox4 (huntington WV) Was This Review Helpful? Absolutely Awesome!! I have every Sister Hazel album, and this is definitely one of my favorites. This album definitely has something for everybody. Their first release off the album, Mandolin Moon, is a fun song and completely addicting! The thing I love about Sister Hazel albums is that you can listen to the entire album without having to skip over songs because they're all fantastic. Hey Hey, Shame, Hello It's Me are some of my favorites....along with Everything Else Disappears, a wonderfully poetic song about meeting your soulmate. I highly adivise you to check out this CD. I guarantee you won't be disappointed! And don't forget to check out the bonus track at the end!

Sister Hazel continues to impress. I keep saying before each new Sister Hazel album comes out that it'll never top the last one, but I'm proven wrong every time. Submitted by Brian (Billings, MT, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

The Florida-based band, whose name was inspired by a rescue mission minister, returns with FORTRESS, new music featuring uplifting vocal harmonies and simple, catchy modern rock with an eye to the future and an ear to the heart of classic rock values. Many of these tracks scream for radio play.
"Backporch" features tasty slide guitar, while "Change Your Mind" is the obvious single. "Surreal" evokes '70s-era Rod Stewart, while "Shame on Me" rocks just a little bit harder, recalling ...

When Matchbox Twenty's first album became a hit, some critics lumped the band in with flash-in-the-pan rock acts of the day. What these early naysayers missed, of course, is that in vocalist Rob Thomas, Matchbox Twenty had one of the finest mainstream pop/rock songwriters in the business. Not only did Thomas rack up a string of hits with the Florida group, but he also co-penned "Smooth" from Santana's Grammy-winning 1999 comeback album, SUPERNATURAL.
With SOMETHING TO BE, his solo debut, Thomas pulls out all the stylistic stops, revealing that Matchbox Twenty's ...

| | Linda Clifford If My Friends Could See Me Now CD (1978) Import; Remastered
Absolutely songs
$10.49 Originally recorded for Curtis Mayfield's Curtom label, this 1978 outing from the disco diva features "If My Friends Could See Me Now," "Runaway Love," "Gypsy Lady," and two bonus tracks.
For Linda Clifford's second album, producers Gil Askey and Curtis Mayfield wisely left behind the overabundance of cover tunes that weighted down her debut outing to concentrate on original material. The result is If My Friends Could See Me Now, the opus that earned Clifford her disco diva status. The first side of the album represents her finest recorded work. It starts with a bang via the title track, which transforms this classic show tune from Sweet Charity into a driving slice of orchestrated disco. It provides an ideal vehicle for Clifford's brassy vocal persona ...
