Nice Addition to the Bolin Collection
Interesting stuff here. As another reviewer noted; if you have the first one you will like this one.
The only negative is the complete lack of information regarding who else is playing on the various tracks (lots of nice pix tho'). Those familiar with Tommy will probably be close with their guesses. Clearly a lot of this material is from rehearsals and/or pre-production sessions for Teaser. David Sanborn's sax is unmistakeable on "People, People" for example. These versions of the Teaser songs are looser and more open as you might expect.
A few specific song comments are in order. Both "People, People" and "Lotus" appear to be from the same sessions. The vocals are highly processed (echo and flange?) and at certain points of each song are nearly inaudible.
I have no clue who's singing on "Sooner or Later" (Jeff Cook?). "The Grind" and "Crazed Fandango" are both good alternates to the other alternates already out there.
The first half of "Bagitblues Deluxe" is clearly the "Marching Powder" riff (as is Journey 2 for that matter), albeit in proto/early forms. "Spacey Noodles" is Tommy playing with the Echoplex. He liked to do this kind of stuff live as intros to songs.
Anyway, nuff said...check it out.

Capture the spirit of Bolin
Thanks to John Bolin, hear Tommy Bolin's music the way Tommy would have preferred it to be heard.Without the editing for radio play, extended jams of known Bolin material as well as unknown chestnuts shine as Bolin strips away all pretense and cuts loose with abandon.Like Hendrix before him, can't help but wonder what more he could have accomplished.Fave tracks are:Crazed Fandango,Lotus and People,People.
