Elvis Presley stars as Pacer Burton, son of a white father (John McIntire) and Native American mother (Dolores del Rio) who finds his loyalties tested in a war of attrition between a fierce Indian tribe, the Kiowas, and a group of racist white settlers on the Texas frontier in 1870. Although his parents attempt to remain outside the fray, his father is eventually killed in an Indian attack on the settlement. A white man, enraged over the Indian attacks, kills Pacer's mother. Shunned by white society after the Indian attacks, Pacer elects to fight on the side of the Kiowas while his brother, Clint (Steve Forrest), stays with the settlers. This 2005 reissue of LOVING YOU includes 8 extra tracks. This is the soundtrack to Elvis's second movie.
Elvis Presley's first film, LOVE ME TENDER, included music as an afterthought, but music was the priority in his next, LOVING YOU. Four of the seven songs were hits, while "Mean Woman Blues" has been recorded by Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and many others. "(Let's Have A) Party" at 90 seconds is the shortest single ever to make the charts, a peculiar achievement as Elvis has an additional verse in the film. Fans used to send Elvis Presley teddy bears, hence the song of the same name. Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller wrote one of their finest ballads with "Loving You," a song comparable to Cole Porter's "True Love" which, in turn, completed this 8-track, 10-inch album. In the USA, the album was issued in 12-inch format and the four additional tracks, including "Blueberry Hill," were released on an EP in the UK.

This limited edition, numbered deluxe box includes the original 45 rpm artwork for each single and 19" x 24" posters.
The ELVIS #1 SINGLES box set is, among other things, a monument to impracticality and excessive packaging. A nostalgia fetish item par excellence, the box houses 20 of Elvis's best-selling singles as individually packaged CDs, each of which--designed to replicate the original 45--contains the single, its B-side, and the original artwork. This means that listening to the music will require a lot of manual labor: listeners have to remove each individual sleeve, put the disc in the player, listen to its two songs, take the disc out, put it back in the sleeve, then repeat the process. At least it's one less trip to the stereo than when they were on vinyl.
That said, those looking for a regular full-length hits collection should not turn here. This item is strictly for collectors and Elvis buffs--those whose 45s are scratched and unplayable, or who were never able to procure their favorites. Superb remastered sound and a booklet with complete discography information are the icing on the cake, but the fact that ...
