(7 Customer Reviews)
On PRICELESS, Frankie J's follow-up to his 2005 breakthrough album, THE ONE, the Latino vocalist presents another potent set of hip-hop-laden R&B. With his smooth voice and immediately catchy tunes, the singer (aka Francisco Javier Bautista) confidently mines the same pop-tinged stutter-funk terrain as Justin Timberlake and Usher, particularly on "That Girl," an infectious, beat-driven single that features the rhymes of rapper Chamillionaire and the production of Mannie Fresh. For those disappointed that the former Kumbia King focuses on English-language songs here, UN NUEVO DIA (also released in '06) gives fans their Frankie J-en-Espanol fix, making for an impressive pair of records by an undeniably talented crossover artist.

$15.79 By the time Cassie's first album was released in August 2006, her first single had been on the Billboard pop chart for nearly four months and reached nine million plays through her MySpace page. The page, set up in late 2005, was part of a strategy that sparked a lot of chatter and eventually landed the model-turned-vocalist on Diddy's Bad Boy label. ...

Priceless album
$12.55 Landslide top vote-getter at the Falcon Ridge (NY) Folk Festival's "Most-Wanted" competition and NAIRD "Indie" nominee (singer-songwriter album of the year for "Digging Through My Closet") DAVID ROTH strikes many chords, hearts, and minds with his unique songs, offbeat observations, moving stories, and powerful singing and subject matter. Since emerging from another nationwide field of several hundred songwriters to open the Kerrville (TX) Folk Festival as it's New Folk Winner, the Chicago native (and two-time national anthem singer for the NBA's Michael Jordan-era Bulls) has garnered accolades for his performances, workshops, writing, and recordings. Featured on many of Christine Lavin's Rounder compilations, the former artist-in-residence at New York's Omega Institute has also been a songwriting judge at Kerrville, Napa Valley (CA), Tumbleweed (WA), Eventide Arts (MA), and the South Florida Folk Festival. In addition to singing "Earth" at the 40th Anniversary of the United Nations, David's "Rising in Love" was performed at the 100th Anniversary of Carnegie Hall in 1991, and "Manuel Garcia" and "Nine Gold Medals" both appear in the best-selling Chicken Soup for the Soul series by Jack Canfield ...

| | J T The Bigga Figga Neighborhood Superstarz CD (2005) (Import) Japan
Priceless album
$42.19 JT the Bigga Figga's discoveries and former associates have earned major labels plenty of dead presidents, so a compilation that gives the man a slice of the pie is well deserved. Unfortunately, Neighborhood Superstarz smells of cash-in and not respect. Bad packaging and precious few liner notes undermine the high-quality music here, most of which, if not all, has show up on mixtapes and official releases. Superstars the Game, Juvenile, and Young Buck are featured alongside fan favorites E-40 and Daz Dillinger, plus the underappreciated Gamblaz. Despite the jumble of names, the album hangs together since most of the tracks here are unambitious club tracks, all anchored by JT's solid, West Coast style of beat building. The music's exciting enough to warrant further ...
| | Shadiya Search Is Over CD (2005)
Priceless CD music
$9.59 Shadiya, the Sultry Soul Singer, is back once again with some tantilizing vocals, thumpin' bass and soul stirring lyrics, just to get YOU in THE MOOD. Yes, she brought you Heart of a Woman, then she brought you Share My World and The Sultry Soul Singer. Now, she brings to the table, The Search is Over. This album is a "MUST HAVE". 5 stars. Not afraid to experiment and not shackled by what is considered mainstream, Artist/Producer/Writer/Arranger/Singer/Executive, SHADIYA, brings to the stage sultry, smooth R&B and jazz sounds that collectively represents every music style imaginable. Shadiya's music career began while singing in the church choir when the music director discovered her talent. Wanting to see that talent blossom, the director took Shadiya under her wing and paid for her vocal and piano lessons. "I didn't even know I could sing until Mrs. Carr told me." From then on, with her mother and god mother as her managers, Shadiya was auditioning and singing for benefits such as the American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, Dogwood Arts Festival, Dollywood (formally known as Silver Dollar City) and political and church groups. At age 13, she was challenged to audition for the Miss Tennessee Talented Teen contest. Winning the contest with her rendition of "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess, she went on to represent her state in the Hal Jackson's International Talented Teens Pageant held at the Coconut Grove in Hollywood, California. This one experience was a turning point in Shadiya's life. It opened many doors to building her self-esteem, to offering opportunities to interact and perform with some of the hottest stars such as Janet Jackson, Johnny Gill, Jeffrey Osbourne, Ready for the World, Bobby Brown, and DeBarge. In high school she auditioned and won a place in the All-East and then All-State Chorus. Shadiya also enjoyed acting in highschool and tore the house down when she played Queenie in ShowBoat. Showing her versatility, she tried her hand at modeling and had various modeling jobs forSears and other companies and organizations. At age 14, she recorded her first Gospel cassette titled, "Rise Again." After attending a year of college, she joined the Army as a medical specialist, paratrooper and served in the Persian Gulf War. She has appeared on World Monitor Special Broadcast, Montel Williams Show and CBS/Boston Children's Hospital Telethon. In 1989 she appeared in the movie, My Mother Wears Combat Boots with Barbara Eden (who played I Dream of Jeanie). Showcasing her writing skills, she co-authored a coloring book about children's ...
