| | Sham 69 Tell Us The Truth CD Sham 69 Discography of CDs
Originally released in the UK on Polydor. Includes liner notes by Jimmy Pursey and Dave Parsons.
Combining live and studio material, TELL US THE TRUTH (1978) marks the full-length debut of the U.K. punk act Sham 69. Establishing themselves as working-class counterparts to more popular and fashionable bands such as the Sex Pistols and the Clash, the Hersham-based quartet, fronted by no-nonsense shouter Jimmy Pursey, somewhat reluctantly ended up spearheading the British Oi! movement. Highlights of this fierce first outing include a rambunctious concert versions of "We Got a Fight" and "Borstal Breakout" and punchy studio renditions of "Hey Little Rich Boy" and the title track, which reveal an ever-so-slightly more polished approach. For those wanting to dive headlong into the Sham catalogue, this is the place to start.
Japanese limited edition issue of the album classic in a deluxe, miniaturized LP sleeve replica of the original vinyl album artwork.

Tell Us The Truth album
$11.69 Black Eyed Peas, the hip-hop crossover juggernaut that propelled singer Fergie and producer Will.I.Am to superstardom, have, since 2003's ELEPHUNK, been audaciously plugging away at their bombastic but lighthearted style of rap-cum-dance pop--an effort that has translated to a run of successful chart-topping singles including "My Humps," "Pump It," and "Don't Phunk with My Heart." | | Overkill Ironbound CD (2010)
Tell Us The Truth CD music
$14.29 Over the course of 15 albums and a 30-year career, Overkill have proven time and time again that they're one of the most relentlessly enduring bands in thrash metal. While modern bands have been taking metal into an increasingly esoteric direction, Ironbound shows that sometimes the old ways are the best ways. While the album may not have any studio trickery or meandering prog epics, what it does deliver is a dose of old-fashioned, full-speed-ahead thrash. With a classic combination of crunchy riffage backed by a furious double-bass drum stampede, Overkill delivers straightforward metal aggression without any neo-classical or prog pretensions. On the titular "Ironbound," guitarists Dave Linsk and Derek Tailer deliver a massive, chugging riff that manages to be intense without ever indulging in meat-headed aggression. Another high point is Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth's singing. Even after 30 years and an unfortunate stroke, Ellsworth's voice is clear and dominant, giving him a commanding presence amongst ...

| | Jimi Hendrix Smash Hits CD (1969) Remastered
Tell Us The Truth album
$7.19 The first good Jimi Hendrix collection, and one of the all time great best-of collections by any artist, SMASH HITS serves as a concise introduction to the Seattle guitar master's genius. Though far from a representative overview of Hendrix's career (AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE isn't represented, and 10 of the 12 tracks are from either the U.S. or U.K. versions of ARE YOU EXPERIENCED?), the collection is sequenced like a regular album, and in this respect may be the Experience's most consistently satisfying record.
These are the Hendrix tunes that have recieved the most media exposure over the years, from the primal blues-rock stomp of "Purple Haze" and "Foxey Lady" to the electrified murder ballad "Hey Joe" and the redefined Dylan tune "All Along the Watchtower. SMASH HITS has something in common with great Beatles records like RUBBER SOUL and REVOLVER; each song stands on its own as a fully formed progressive statement, yet the whole is greater than the sum of its uniformly excellent parts.
Recorded between October 23, 1966 & January 21, 1968.
The Breakaways (vocals).
Personnel: Jimi Hendrix (vocals, guitar); Noel Redding (bass guitar); Mitch Mitchell (drums).
Recording information: CBS Studios (01/11/1967); Delane ...
