| | Dierks Bentley Long Trip Alone CD Dierks Bentley Discography of CDs
Dierks Bentley's third album, the follow-up to the 2005 smash MODERN DAY DRIFTER, offers more of the neo-traditionalist same, in the best possible way. Writing or co-writing every song himself, Bentley continues his one-man tribute to the spirit of 1970s outlaw country with slyly rocking tunes like "Band of Brothers" and "Trying To Stop Your Leaving," while "The Heaven I'm Headed To" has the snarky lyrical wit of a prime Big & Rich tune. Overall, LONG TRIP ALONE is a solid affirmation of Dierks Bentley's best musical qualities.
Personnel include: Dierks Bentley (vocals); Bryan Sutton (acoustic guitar, mandolin); Aubry Haney (fiddle); Jimmy Carter (bass guitar); Steve Brewster (drums); The Grascals.
Recording information: Ocean Way, Nashville, Tennessee.
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.Entertainment Weekly (p.81) - "[The album] showcases a great voice, band, and songwriting team. the latter shines on the romantic numbers." -- Grade: B Dierks Bentley Long Trip Alone Songs Long Trip Alone Review

| | Kenny Chesney Be As You Are CD (2005)
Long Trip Alone
$7.59 Though much of Kenny Chesney's recorded output is distinctly soft-spoken and genial, BE AS YOU ARE represents a full realization of his mellow side. A conceptual song-cycle written about the country singer's experiences in the Caribbean, the tunes here are often so laid-back that they make Jimmy Buffett seem as frenetic as David Byrne.
Ripping a page from Buffet's textbook, the album employs steel drums, Latin percussion, Cuban-style nylon-string guitar leads, and even the sounds of crashing waves, to induce a breezy, relaxed feeling that lingers long after the disc stops spinning. Chesney's exquisitely reserved vocals, however, always bear a hint of melancholy, suggesting an update of the same dark-side-of-the-island-vacation dream implied by Buffett himself in his hit "Margaritaville." ...
| | Faith Hill Fireflies CD (2005)
Long Trip Alone
$14.29 Coming after the relative commercial disappointment of 2002's pop-oriented CRY--and, not at all coincidentally, Gretchen Wilson's rise as the new Everygirl of country--Faith Hill's FIREFLIES is a blatant attempt to ditch the singer's glamourpuss image and reassert her country roots, such things having become fashionable again. This isn't a problem, however: Shania Twain-like chart pop wasn't Hill's forte, and FIREFLIES brings her back where she belongs.
The first single, "Mississippi Girl," is Hill's best song in years. A Dixie Chicks-like piece of sweet country-pop with a few bluegrass trimmings, the tune was written by country hitmaker John Rich. Rich also penned some of the other standouts here, like the laid-back "Sunshine and Summertime" and "Like We Never Loved At All," a dramatic, '70s-style ...
| | Brad Paisley Time Well Wasted CD (2005)
Long Trip Alone
$9.89 Brad Paisley's music is an interesting amalgam of country sub-genres, a paradigm all its own. He melds straightforward, pop-friendly New Country with clever, somewhat Lyle Lovett-like songwriting and the occasional flutter of Joe Maphis/Jimmy Bryant-style guitar virtuosity. Surprisingly or not, this country combo platter made Paisley a star, and TIME WELL WASTED continues in the aforementioned vein. While there are some fairly mainstream moments here that wouldn't ruffle the feathers of, say, the average Kenny Chesney fan, WASTED boasts plenty of smart, sassy tunes brimming with lyrical witticisms worthy ...

| | Orgone CD (2001)
Long Trip Alone
$13.69 ORGONE by definition is a cosmic unit of energy, the creative force in nature. The band ORGONE is many souls with a cosmic connection, a natural creative force. The musicians of ORGONE have played together for the past 10 years; self schooled, shaping their musical voice as a solid unit of guys who hang, spin records, and jam out their shared inspirations. Orgone and it's members have recently played and toured for the Pharcyde, Little Brother, Pharoahe Monch, Black Sheep, Too Short, Nice & Smooth, Plantlife, Bun B, and the Breakestra. Whenever they've had the chance between gigs, they've gotten together to play the stuff they all hold close to their hearts and share a deep love for, putting their own gritty take on tunes by the likes of the JBs, the Meters, Grant Green, Booker T. & the MGs, Funkadelic, & Mandrill, just to name a few. With a rooted sense of funk, R&B, reggae, and rock, and an intimate understanding of each others playing, ORGONE can take a song or spontaneous jam and twist it into something new and exciting every time they play it. ORGONE slides through style and dynamic changes seamlessly and effortlessly, continuously injecting whatever they play with their own heavy brand of raw funk power. Their debut self titled cd "ORGONE" and live show is laced with the aspects of dj culture, afro beat, soul, jazz, and experimental funk wizardry. Down home, transcendental, tough, gritty funk... ORGONE is a road trip from New Orleans to Memphis: New York soul jazz to the new West Coast funky jam band scene. Wanna ride?Recent Hype:"Sounding much like a cross between The Dap-Kings and Breakestra, L.A.’s Orgone keeps the hotness of the recent retro-soul revival coming; lead singer Fanny Franklin fits in very nicely between Sharon Jones and Amy Winehouse. As befits the band’s name, Orgone’s sound is quite organic, rooted in soul, funk, boogaloo, and jazz, with a classic appeal that’s nevertheless contemporary...the entire album is one non-stop groove. If smooth, soulful funk with jazzy arrangements makes you sweat, you just found your new favorite band."- XLR8R"By the time the listener gets to the nasty, distorted, finger-popping, ass waggling "Crabby Ali" -- where the deep brewed, second-line New Orleans old-school funk goes head to head with the gloss of L.A.'s Tower of Power styled horn charts -- it feels like the party's just getting started."- All Music"Orgone recalls acts like Fela Kuti, Trouble Funk, and War, but with a heavy dose of disco, as on Killion's "Dialed Up," where the deep groove and diva vocals are so authentic, they could be samples."- The Onion / A.V. Club"Their music is terrifically unfussy, big slabs of grizzled R&B, greasy ...
