To coincide with the 2006 release of ROCKY BALBOA (the sixth installment in the life of the beloved fictional pugilist created by Sylvester Stallone), Capitol records compiled this collection of music from the various films. In addition to Bill Conti's famed dramatic score--the highlight of which is the eternally inspiring title theme "Gonna Fly Now"--the disc includes original songs by the likes of James Brown ("Living in America"), Survivor ("Eye of the Tiger" and "Burning Heart"), John Cafferty ("Hearts on Fire"), and Three 6 Mafia (who provided "It's a Fight" for ROCKY BALBOA). This collection is as entertainingly over-the-top and undeniably uplifting as the Italian Stallion himself.

5 stars What a great finale for Rocky...
I have The Rocky Story in my CD collection, however, this one tops it. I expected a bit more from the last movie, but was still pleased. I think any Rocky/soundtrack fan would enjoy this.

5 stars The Ultimate Training Montage Theme Song
I would happily buy a CD consisting of only "Gonna Fly Now (Theme from Rocky)", and to follow that up with Eye of the Tiger (and 16 others along the same lines) only makes this a better CD to listen to while studying for a final. Definitely worth a listen, and highly recommended.

3 stars Would have preferred a proper soundtrack...
There is only one song on this soundtrack that was actually featured in the movie "Rocky Balboa". The rest are all from previously released "Rocky" soundtracks. Some of the score from these movies appear in some form in the new movie, but even those were re-arranged and re-recorded. I would have preferred that the "Best of" soundtrack be produced separately and a proper "Rocky Balboa" soundtrack be made available to the public. While I love the original "Gonna Fly Now", I already own it from some of the other "Rocky" CDs. I would like to have the version from "Rocky Balboa". As a "Best of" collection, this CD works... As the only soundtrack to "Rocky Balboa", it falls short.
