Purchase Timeless CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Chickenfoot CD (2009) Digipak
Timeless album
$11.17 In true old-school "supergroup" fashion, Chickenfoot is a hard-rock dream team. Composed of vocalist Sammy Hagar (Montrose, Van Halen), bassist Michael Anthony (Van Halen), drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani, the combo grew out of a few impromptu jams, but the combination was judged strong enough to record an album and go on tour. The resulting disc is a full-throttle, unapologetic rock record, brimming with the same party attitude and sense of fun that made Van Halen so legendary. From the "Boris the Spider"-esque locomotive descending riff and manic screams that drive "Oh Yeah" to the screaming guitar solos and pounding drums of "Get it Up," these songs showcase ...
| | Will Downing Classique CD (2009)
Timeless CD music
$13.20 The title of Will Downing's 2009 effort, CLASSIQUE, produced by the artist and Rex Rideout, may be a bit misleading: it is not a compilation but a brand-spanking new collection of contemporary jazz-inflected R&B--in other words, classic Downing. The album's first single, "Something Special"--with its hand drums, loops, and slippery flute flitting around a well-placed, subtle horn section--is at its core a popping midtempo love song. Elsewhere, his cover of Barry White's "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little Bit More Baby" reveals just how deep the master's influence is on Downing. He may not have the full depth of White's baritone, but he gets close, and his expressiveness and emotional connection to the song make it shine. The completely old-school Marvin Gaye ballad "Baby I'm for Real" features a duet appearance by Phil Perry. It's convincing and utterly gorgeous. But not only do the covers work here; Downing's originals connect too--and not just the aforementioned single, but "Love Suggestions," "Ride," and "Let's Make It Now" also reveal the depth and breadth of Downing's songwriting. CLASSIQUE is ...

Timeless songs
$15.18 The emblematic 1960s musical was revived for Broadway in 2009, and this cast recording, co-produced by composer Galt McDermott, showcases both the strength of the original material and the excellence of the '09 cast. Where some of the lyrics may sound charmingly archaic, most ...
| | Rolling Stones Tattoo You CD (1981) Reissue; Remastered
Timeless album
$11.16 After bum-rushing the '80s with EMOTIONAL RESCUE, the Stones released TATTOO YOU, the second half of a potent one-two album punch that showed the band asserting themselves as they entered their third decade of music-making. Essentially made up of songs dating as far back as 1972 sessions for GOATS HEAD SOUP, the Stones' 1981 release is still a potent slab of swagger and sass. "Hang Fire" is a tight two-minute and twenty second redefinition of surf music, and "Start Me Up" is classic Stones, replete with Jagger's sexual braggadocio and Keith's patented "Honky Tonk Women"-style riffs. The bluesy shuffle that is "Black Limousine" is only surpassed by the cocky "Little T & A," sung by an endearingly raspy Keith Richards. Most impressive on TATTOO YOU is the wistful ...
| | Dave Matthews Band Big Whiskey And The Groogrux King CD (2009)
Timeless CD music
$15.55 The first studio album since the death of saxophonist LeRoi Moore, BIG WHISKEY AND THE GROOGRUX KING finds the Dave Matthews Band none the worse for wear and collaborating with superstar producer Rob Cavallo (best known for his extensive work with Green Day). Cavallo's way with an aggressive riff is in evidence on "Shake Me Like a Monkey," a funky track vaguely reminiscent of Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer," and the driving "Why I Am," which recalls the Knack's "My Sharona." Other songs, such as the groovy, polyrhythmic "Spaceman," find the band returning to classic jammy, chops-a-riffic DMB territory. Full of prominent hooks and snap-tight ensemble playing, BIG WHISKEY gave DMB fans another reason to rejoice.
