Experimental guitarist/singer Christina Carter, taking a break from her trio Charalambides, recorded these four droning improvisational pieces based around a single key and open guitar tuning. Her vocals and lyrics were made up in the studio, and seem to gush from a subterranean pool of anguish and redemption. This startling effort suggests all kinds of new possibilities for Carter, unencumbered by the restraints of a band.
