| | Yes Definitive Rock CD Yes Discography of CDs
A solid two-disc compilation that covers nearly the full career of Yes from their early psych-folk tunes through their prog-rock epics and on to the slick pop hits of the 1980s, DEFINITIVE ROCK is the perfect summation of this long-running band. Aside from three radio hits from the band's late period, all tracks are presented in their original lengths, including the eight-and-a-half minute "Roundabout" and the full three-part "Starship Trooper." Unlike most Yes compilations, this one even includes a track from the short-lived 1980 lineup featuring the Buggles' Trevor Horn on vocals. Newcomers would do well to start here.

Definitive Rock album
$18.05 Growing up among Afro-Americans in Berkeley, CA, Greek-American Johnny Otis (born John Veliotes) always identified strongly with people of color. Before he had attained the age of 20 he was gigging with black jazz bands throughout the Southwest, and eventually organized an ensemble deliberately patterned after Count Basie's orchestra. This highly charged album of historical musical artifacts documents the very beginning of Johnny Otis' recording career. With one apparently unobtainable exception, the Classics Blues & ...

$12.59 Primus is sometimes considered a square peg in a round hole amongst the band's musical peers. Yet somehow, Les Claypool and company have always managed a perfect fit. On ANTIPOP, the band continues on its fearless musical journey. The impressive roster of guest artists is only part of the reason why this album is a must for music fans who walk their own paths.

Definitive Rock songs
$18.05 As an artist, producer, and songwriter, Miki Dallon was an interesting secondary figure of the British Invasion, albeit one whose work rarely troubled the charts ("Take a Heart," a fair-sized U.K. hit for the Sorrows, being his most successful tune). As a singer he was only adequate, if exuberant, but as a composer he had a knack for combining some hard-edged R&B riffs with British Invasion pop-soul. That's Alright is an unwieldy but worthwhile compilation of 23 tracks from the 1960s in which he was involved, usually as an artist, though sometimes only as a songwriter. Mixing both rare singles and unreleased material, the cuts on which Dallon sings are mixed with covers of his songs by the Sessions, Boys Blue, the Crusaders, the Renegades, the Caretakers, Neil Christian, and Mickie Most -- none of them exactly household names, except Most (who was more known as a producer than a singer). Yes, it's one for the British Invasion obsessives, but if you're in that crowd there ...
