Entertainment Weekly (11/14/97, p.93) - "...wanders even further into the musical woods on her seventh album, singing about 'riding o'er the land' and the 'fountain of forgiveness' to misty, Celtic-renaissance-fair pop. For all her New Age pretensions, though, McKennitt knows a hook when she hears it..." - Rating: B
Hauntingly Beautiful This album is wonderful. The Mummer's Dance is hauntingly beautiful. It lingers in your mind for hours after it is over. Loreena's version of the Highway Man has got me to love a poem that in the past I totally disliked. The whole album takes you on a musical journey that is not equalled by many. Incredible Loreena McKennitt facinates and soothes with this collection of her best work in the celtic realm. I was happily suprised to find that there was a DVD included which gave a preview of other songs she has done. I've never seen anything like it before. There were also music videos which were very well done. I especially liked the Bonny Swan. The ripples are prevelant throughout a good part of it and are very well integrated.
