Although long-players like DEFINITELY MAYBE and (WHAT'S THE STORY) MORNING GLORY? are certified Britpop classics, Oasis has always been a singles band, so 2006's two-disc best-of, STOP THE CLOCKS, was a welcome arrival. Oasis has never been ... Full Descriptiontouted for their groundbreaking originality, but it's precisely their retro-styled concoction of irrepressible hooks and alternately chiming and roaring guitars that makes their music so appealing. STOP THE CLOCKS drives that point home and then some.
Stretching from early gems like "Rock 'N' Roll Star" and "Live Forever" through latter period singles such as "Lyla," with the mega-hits ("Wonderwall") and B-sides sprinkled in along the way, the compilation serves to remind why the band was one of the most popular British acts of the '90s and beyond. Throughout, the towering wall of guitars, Liam Gallagher's sneering vocals, and brother Noel's impeccable songcraft create a rock template that pushes all the right pleasure buttons, and with 23 of the band's best on offer, STOP THE CLOCKS provides a lot of pleasure.
The band personally sat down to choose each track from their prolific history of multi-platinum albuns, number one singles, and unique B-sides to create this 18 track CD with bonus DVD including EPK, 4 minute trailer for the documentary, and 2 live video tracks. Also included is a 32-page booklet.

Stop The Clocks CD music
$7.05 Ironically, INXS's best and most experimental album came out exactly when the album-buying public had ceased paying much attention to them. After the multi-platinum success of 1987's KICK, the disappointing sales of 1990's follow-up X brought whispers of "has-been" to the Australian combo, and the fine LIVE BABY LIVE was largely viewed as an attempt to coast on former glories.
1992's WELCOME TO WHEREVER YOU ARE answered these accusations with surprising grace and subtlety. Arranged and largely written by keyboardist Andrew Farriss, these 12 tracks are almost Beatles-esque in their melodic canniness and sharply etched, multi-layered production. The first single, "Not Enough Time," is a particular ...

Stop The Clocks songs
$15.89 Never one to tread the expected path, Lucinda Williams followed her big breakthrough album, CAR WHEELS ON A GRAVEL ROAD, with a pair of low-key records full of sad, quiet, fragile songs (interrupted by the occasional barn-burner). LIVE @ THE FILLMORE concentrates heavily on those latter two releases, unleashing all the intense, burning emotions that lay at their core, making plain the inherent frisson lurking below the surface of such ostensibly laconic tunes as "Lonely Girls" and "Righteously." Meanwhile, songs that already ...

Stop The Clocks Music Review Average Rating: (2.8 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Stop Crying Your Hearts Out, Fans Okay, so we all own the studio albums by Oasis. This is what the band considers to be their best work, which is really what a "best of" is about, more so than what we as fans consider their best, since we all have our favorites. It's an excellent crash course for anyone who is only knows "Wonderwall," which is a lot of people. I convinced many friends to pick this up in order to get them into Oasis and now they love them so it serves its purpose. I think it's an awesome collection of songs, even though many of my favorites aren't on it but it's not like I don't already own them. Personally, I think the DVD is worth the cost alone but if you want to complain about the track listing, it's listed here and on the back of the CD so if you don't like it, don't buy it. Plain and simple. Submitted by Chris (Los Angeles, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
This is a "HITS" collection? Being a fairly standard fan of OASIS, and patiently waiting for a "Best of...or "Greatest Hits" ---this compilation is MISSING greats like"Don't Go Away","Roll with It","Little by Little","Hindu Times","All Around the World","Stop Crying your Heart Out","Whatever" ...(and a few more obvious?!)....wait for more of an anthology from the band --this isnt worth it Submitted by naitchboy (Fredericton, NB, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Alot is missing... I guess somebody forgot that Oasis released an album called Be Here Now in 1997. I guess that certain somebody also forgot what a good album that was. Not one song from that record is represented here. Only one song from HeathenChemistry! Pathetic! This CD is strictly for non-fans. Submitted by JohnJay (Bristol, RI, USofA) Was This Review Helpful? A Casual Oasis Fan's Pot o' Gold This is a fantastic collection of Oasis songs, but there are just too many good Oasis tunes over their 12 years to condense their career thus far into a single CD. Any solid Oasis fan knows this. Their best album is still the gritty, in-your-face "Definitely Maybe" from 1994 (which is better than Nirvana's "Nevermind" any way one slices it). Nonetheless, this compilation is for those who have not followed Oasis after the "Morning Glory" album of 1995. Oasis's strength, beyond the albums, had always been their B-sides, which are better than most current band's A-sides. As with other band's greatest hits (i.e. REM, Nirvana), there are no new songs on this album in order to shamelessly market it--just a couple B-sides and an unreleased A-Side that a fan in the USA may never have been exposed to. Kudos to Noel Gallagher for his choice to respect Oasis fans rather than bilking them for $15.00 in order to get ONE new song! In essence, it's a great CD for the casual fan; for hardcore Oasis folks, like me, it's not needed. But it's an automatic 5 stars. Just cool to know they're still an elite, significant group worldwide. Submitted by Mark S (Aurora, IL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
