Purchase Percy Sledge CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Kirk Franklin And The Family Christmas CD (1995)
Percy Sledge album
$9.49 In addition to energized versions of such treasured Christmas songs as "Go Tell It on the Mountain" and "Silent Night," Franklin & the Family contribute several non-traditional songs that explore the depth of God's love and the Christian basis for the holiday. "Now Behold the Lamb," for example, is a ballad that testifies to the truth of salvation, and features stirring ensemble singing, strong solo vocalists, and plenty of enthusiastic exclamations. The deeply funky "Jesus Is the Reason for the Season" kicks things up a notch with its bumping rhythm and infectious chorus. With its mix of old and new musical styles and its impassioned performances, CHRISTMAS is sure to please those looking for a meaningful and musically fresh holiday album.

| | Ultimate Bee Gees: The 50th Anniversary Collection CDs (2009)
Percy Sledge CD music
$20.15 Functioning as something of a replacement for the 2001 collection Their Greatest Hits: The Record, The Ultimate Bee Gees covers much of the same ground as that double-disc set, albeit in not quite so linear a fashion. The Record marched through its 40 tracks chronologically, opening with the stately baroque Beatlesque pop of the '60s and then winding through the '70s, whereas this opens with the bright, fabulous blast of "You Should Be Dancing" and remains in their late-'70s heyday for ...

| | Chris Brown Graffiti CDs (2009) Deluxe Edition
Percy Sledge songs
$14.34 Most of Graffiti is a natural progression for Chris Brown. Like many young cred-seeking male singers who have just exited their teenage years, Brown emphasizes womanizing and hedonism and balances it out with a couple clean and empty ballads, as well as a couple relatively lighthearted Europop numbers. A handful of songs deal with his relationship with Rihanna, as well as the fallout from his assault of her. ~ Andy Kellman
Most of Graffiti -- that is, the songs that do not detail what ex-girlfriend Rihanna and the rest of the world have done to him -- is a natural progression for Chris Brown. Like many young cred-seeking male singers who have just exited their teenage years, Brown clumsily emphasizes womanizing and hedonism and balances it out with a couple clean and empty ballads. Out of this portion of the album, only a couple songs leave a lasting impression, and when they do, the silly things that come out of Brown's mouth tend to be the reason; take "As stingy as you are, I think you ready," part of "Take My Time"'s chorus and hopefully no woman's idea of an effective bedroom line. A two-track patch of gloopy and gawky Europop, where he's on slightly better behavior, is at least more tolerable than the inane chest-puffing, but nothing comes close to the big singles from Brown's first two releases. ...
| | Very Best Of Michael Mcdonald CD (1986)
Percy Sledge album
$13.59 Digitally remastered by Dan Hersch and Bill Inglot (Digiprep).
A solid collection that features all of McDonald's greatest hits from the early '80s. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
For too long, there wasn't a Michael McDonald compilation available domestically. Rhino/Warner Archives' 2001 release The Very Best of Michael McDonald corrects that situation, offering a generous 16 tracks, including duets and a previous unreleased version of Higher Ground. The collection concentrates solely on his solo recordings for Warner/Reprise, which means it ends in 1993 and doesn't include anything from his long-delayed 2000 album. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, because McDonald stopped having hits in the late '80s,
16 tracks including all hits from his own albums, movie soundtracks, and collaborations with James Ingram, Patti LaBelle, Kenny Loggins, Quincy Jones, Burt ...
| | Preacher's Wife CD (1996) Original Soundtrack
Percy Sledge CD music
$8.99 THE PREACHER'S WIFE was nominated for a 1988 Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. "I Believe In You And Me" was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
That renaissance gal is at it again. As in THE BODYGUARD, Whitney Houston does double duty as star and soundtrack provider for THE PREACHER'S WIFE. Don't look for her to be sticking to the commercial pop-R&B sound that served her so well on her last soundtrack album, though. THE PREACHER'S WIFE finds Houston reaching back to her roots in gospel, and collaborating with some stellar gospel artists, including her mother, Cissy.
Several cuts here, including "Hold On, Help Is On The Way" and "I Go To The Rock," find the soulful Georgia Mass Choir supporting Houston in her return to the fold. On "He's All Over Me," Houston is joined by gospel great Shirley Caesar as well. On a more modern tip, Houston delivers "Somebody Bigger Than You And I," accompanied by a veritable who's-who of contemporary R&B, including her husband, Bobby Brown, and Brown's New Edition bandmates Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant. THE PREACHER'S WIFE not only shows where Houston is headed, it proves she hasn't forgotten where she's been.
Like The Bodyguard and Waiting to Exhale before it, The Preacher's Wife is a soundtrack that also ...
| | Bang 'Em God Giveth, God Taketh Away CD (2005)
Percy Sledge music CDs
$15.39 In interviews, Bang 'Em made it sound like his debut with fellow Queens rapper Domination would be bigger than anything the G-Unit family ever unleashed. His short-lived association with 50 Cent's crew and the venomous beef that followed his exit (or firing, depends on whom you ask) made him someone to talk about, but luckily Bang 'Em doesn't dwell on it on his debut with the talented Domination, an equal player here despite Bang 'Em's runaway fame. God Giveth, God Taketh Away is a solid debut with plenty of newcomer enthusiasm and the lack of polish that can come with it. The ...

| | P M Dawn Dearest Christian, I'm So Sorry For Bringing You Here. Love, Dad CD (Import)
Percy Sledge CD music
$17.09 Principally recorded at Bliss Studios, Jersey City, New Jersey; Soundtracks, New York, New York; Slamm Studios, Los Angeles, California.
This album's title is a tribute to Prince Be's newborn son, Christian, through whom Be has experienced his own rebirth. DEAR CHRISTIAN...is an exploration of new territory for a group pegged as the hippies of hip-hop only a few short years before. Nevertheless, PM Dawn put together an album that is more John Lennon (or at least early Lenny Kravitz) than Puff Daddy or LL Cool J. Tracks like "Being So Not For You," "If I Could Be Your Star" ...
